The world of music is making things right by changing the rules to allow the Eagles to claim their rightful place on top of Britney Spears. Reuters reports:

In an unusual development on the U.S. pop album charts, veteran rock band the Eagles were awarded the No. 1 spot on Tuesday after a last-minute rule change relegated Britney Spears to second place.

The Eagles’ first studio release in 28 years, "Long Road Out of Eden," sold about 711,000 copies last week, according to preliminary data released by tracking firm Nielsen SoundScan. Spears sold a modest 290,000 copies of her album, "Blackout."

In a normal world, the Eagles would be No. 1 and Spears No. 2, but the Eagles album was available only through Wal-Mart Stores Inc., which traditionally does not report data to SoundScan. Additionally, trade publication Billboard does not allow such exclusive releases to appear on its flagship Billboard 200 chart, which is compiled from SoundScan data.

That meant Spears would have been No. 1 upon the release of final SoundScan figures on Wednesday morning. However, Billboard said late Tuesday that it had changed its rule and the Eagles would indeed be No. 1. The rule was imposed at the request of retailers and labels shortly after Billboard started using SoundScan data in 1991.

"We know that some retailers will be uncomfortable with this policy, but it was inevitable that Billboard’s charts would ultimately widen the parameters to reflect changes that are unfolding in music distribution," said Geoff Mayfield, Billboard’s director of charts.

Britney undersold her target of 350,000 units, and didn’t take the number one spot despite all her daily drama, and effort to stay in the spotlight. Heavily engineered sound like Britney just can’t compete with real artists like the Eagles. Congratulations Eagles, you deserve it.

Britney Spears label Jive Records is so fed up with her. Rush and Molly report:

“They can’t get Britney to do anything!” a source close to the label and Spears tells the NY Daily News. “They did get her to do one photo-shoot for some promotional materials, but beyond that, they can’t trust her to even show up. This album could’ve been so much bigger with Britney involved. This is the one opportunity they have to try and sell a million records. They were forced to [go on with] their marketing plan – without her. They don’t feel they need her if she’s going to keep blowing them off. The label can’t afford to waste their money hoping to get some of her time to help promote this. She’s too busy [hanging out] in a club somewhere.”

Despite all that a Jive spokeswoman said:

"We absolutely stand behind Britney."

On Sunday, a source said they found Britney looking confused as she wandered around the locker room of the Four Seasons Hotel in L.A., wearing just a bikini bottom. When another woman asked her where the hotel pool was, Britney replied, "Oh, is there a pool here?"

Britney did a phone interview with Ryan Seacrest this morning, said she went to a movie she could remember the name of. Britney didn’t seem to really know anything, and finally handed the phone to Alli to finish the interview so she could go take a shower. It’s a surprise she answered the phone at all. The phone never seems to work when the drug testing lab calls, or her kids are at the gate. Click here to listen to Britney being her stupid self.

Despite Britney’s stupidity, her Blackout album might actually sell 350,000 copies. Might. We’ll see next week. If her album does well, this will only embolden Britney to believe her bad behavior is getting her results, and it may get worse. Britney’s fans are creating a monster.

That’s why you should just download the songs, or listen to Blackout online for free. Britney Spears needs to get well more than she needs to get richer.

A former Britney Spears bodyguard, backup dancer, and makeup artist started a MySpace page called Be Proactive to Help, which urges people to boycott Britney’s new album Blackout due to be released October 30. The organizers say:

"Don’t buy her stuff until she’s better. We aren’t doing this to be mean. We’re doing this out of concern, for herself and for her boys."

Meanwhile, many areas from San Diego, and all around Los Angeles like Malibu are burning like hell’s fury, and all the paparazzi are concerned about is getting another shot of Britney while homes burn to the ground. Residents told the New York Observer:

“Basically, all the paparazzi are still out there trying to get their Britney shot. They don’t even care much about the burning houses.” He said there are five to ten lensmen around the clock. “It’s insane. Just as bad as it was before, only now there are burning trees. Basically, Britney needs to get the f**k out of Malibu.”

Mel Gibson’s wife even told another local resident:

“It’s so annoying that people are more concerned about if Britney Spears’s house was burnt”-so far, it’s escaped any damage-“‘than their own well-being.’” Mad Max’s wife, who was forced to evacuate along with the couple’s twin boys, went on to say that the situation says horrible things about “people’s priorities.”

Britney is really a spectacle with the fires raging. She just keeps running into burning houses saying things like "Anyone seen my dog?," and "Are there no gentlemen left in the world? Where can a girl get a light for her cigarette?"

The album is due out October 30, which is earlier than expected since most of the songs already leaked out online. Jive Records is suing Perez for leaving rough unfinished Blackout songs on his site, which the label says make Britney look bad. That’s not hard to do. Britney is auditioning dancers today for her new Blackout tour. It should be called When Pigs Fly, or Three Little Piggies, or just plain Oink. I like Gimme More, but the rest of the album stinks like pig sh!t. It’s actually going to be entertaining to see video of Britney trying to make her 300 lb butt dance. She’ll probably just sit in a big lounge chair on stage eating Big Macs and glazed donuts, and washing them down with Starbucks fat shakes. You don’t think I’d actually pay to see her perform do you? Who knows, maybe she’ll make history by having a heart attack at the age of 25 on this tour. I might go to see that, if the tickets are free. The deluxe edition below comes with a free Cheetos offer.
