The only way the baby gets the fathers last name is when the baby’s parents are married. If not, then the baby only gets the mothers last name, because the baby was born out of wedlock, it doesnt matter if the father lives with the mother, or not. The parents are not married to each other, makes the baby illegitmate,and so the baby does not inherit the fathers last name. As the saying goes…FIRST COMES MARRIAGE THEN COMES THE CARRIAGE!!!!!!
