Disney has Annie Leibovitz on The Payroll

Posted on April 29, 2008 at 12:09 pm (PST)

Disney has had a contract with Annie Leibovitz to shoot their Dream Portrait series, based on Disney stories, for years. Leibovitz has shot big stars for Disney like Beyonce, Julie Andrews, Abigail Breslin, David Beckham, and Scarlett Johansson. We know that Leibovitz got the okay for the photoshoot from Disney before it happened, but Disney claims Leibovitz had Miley Cyrus do a sexually suggestive set of pictures that were not authorized, and accuse Leibovitz of "manipulating" the situation with Miley.

Does this mean Disney won’t be contracting Leibovitz in the future? Disney will just make sure there is a Disney rep on the set next time, like there should have been in the first place. The trust may be gone, but Leibovitz has too much talent for Disney to turn their back on her, just like with Miley.

Vanity Fair’s website crashed Monday after it was hit with millions of visitors from people who wanted to see the pictures of Miley. The June issue goes on sale tomorrow. It will be a big seller, and could even break a record.

The media frenzy over Miley hasn’t hurt Disney’s business either. Although the majority of people agree the pictures were inappropriate, Miley isn’t being blamed. Most are giving Miley credit for owning up to her mistake right away, and taking responsibility, something that is lacking for most female celebrities right now. Miley just moved into the realm of mega star.

Jamie Lee Curtis Says Adults Should Have Protected Miley

Posted on April 28, 2008 at 3:44 pm (PST)

Jamie Lee Curtis (49) today criticized Vanity Fair, Disney, and Miley Cyrus’ parents for not protecting the 15 year-old tween queen. Jamie said:

"I too was a little embarrassed by my recent topless ’scandal’ and the subsequent parodies, but I am an adult woman. I protected myself during the shoot and I can take the heat. I only wish that her guardians had protected her."

Curtis, whose photos in AARP The Magazine were parodied on Saturday Night Live, says she empathizes with Miley Cyrus.

Saturday Night Live did a comical parody of Jamie Lee’s AARP photo shoot, so she says that experience allows her to empathize with Miley. Jamie Lee says she understands Miley feeling embarrassed:

"Of course she is embarrassed. She is a young girl. She shouldn’t have to deal with any of this. I don’t feel that she was duped. I know the integrity of Ms. Leibovitz and the magazine, and I know there were people present at the shoot that should have been looking out to make sure that this didn’t happen."

Jamie Lee Curtis just pointed the finger of blame squarely at Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley’s mother. Miley may be begging for more attention, but her parents need to put on the brakes when their little girl is being exploited, and they didn’t.

Annie Leibovitz Speaks Out on Miley Photo Shoot

Posted on April 28, 2008 at 12:08 pm (PST)

Annie Leibovitz, a world class lesbian photographer, is at the center of a firestorm that has been set off over pictures she took of Miley Cyrus without clothes on. Leibovitz spoke out to put her role into context:

"I’m sorry that my portrait of Miley has been misinterpreted. Miley and I looked at fashion photographs together and we discussed the picture in that context before we shot it. The photograph is a simple, classic portrait, shot with very little makeup, and I think it is very beautiful."

There’s no misinterpretation. Miley is 15 years-old, and she did a sexually suggestive photo shoot that only an 18 year-old should be doing, who is not representing Disney.

Vanity Fair Pulls Miley Cyrus Picture Slideshow

Posted on April 28, 2008 at 10:13 am (PST)

With Disney making accusations that Vanity Fair inappropriately tricked Miley Cyrus into taking her clothes off for a photo shoot, Vanity Fair has now taken their slide show of the photo shoot down. We have to wonder if the fact that Annie Leibovitz is a 58-year-old LESBIAN photographer had anything to do with Vanity Fair’s decision. Gawker even goes so far as to accuse Leibovitz, pictured below with Billy Ray Cyrus at the scene of the crime, of "grooming" Miley the way pedophiles groom their victims. The article gives a very interesting perspective on the whole situation, and gives some credibility to Disney’s accusations of Vanity Fair’s actions and motivation for the controversial photo shoot.

One thing is crystal clear however, both Disney and Miley’s parents were informed of everything that was going to happen at the photo shoot, including Miley appearing without clothes on, and they gave Vanity Fair their consent.

The ladies on The View, especially Whoopie, made some very good points about the photo shoot controversy.

Was Annie Leibovitz shooting Miley without clothes for her own twisted pleasure?

Miley Cyrus Does More Damage Control

Posted on April 27, 2008 at 8:44 pm (PST)

Miley Cyrus is talking now to anyone who will listen, in an effort to defend her photo shoot for Vanity Fair where she took her clothes off. Miley now said to People:

"My goal in my music and my acting is always to make people happy. For Vanity Fair, I was so honored and thrilled to work with Annie Leibovitz. I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be ’artistic’ and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed."

Miley wants us to believe she didn’t know what she was doing because she’s only 15 and stupid, but we know she’s not that stupid. Then Miley defends her other inappropriate pictures that have been released on the Internet for more than a year:

"The pictures of me on the Internet were silly, inappropriate shots. I appreciate all the support of my fans, and hope they understand that along the way I am going to make mistakes and I am not perfect. I never intended for any of this to happen and I am truly sorry if I have disappointed anyone."

Does Miley really expect us to believe that after 5 releases of inappropriate pictures over more than a year’s time, she did not once realize she had made a mistake until the Vanity Fair photo shoot? That sounds like something Lindsay Lohan would say, and we know she’s a serial liar. Miley then goes on to use faith as a way to gain sympathy and forgiveness:

"Most of all. I have let myself down. I will learn from my mistakes and trust my support team. My family and my faith will guide me through my life’s journey."

The Disney Channel then defended their prized Hannah Montana star:

"Unfortunately, as the article suggests, a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines."

Fortunately People found a source to defend Vanity Fair after Disney accused them of taking advantage of a teenage girl, and used sexually suggestive images of her to sell magazines. People says a source close to Miley said she was excited to be working with Leibovitz, and:

"Her parents were there all day. [Father] Billy Ray shot, too."

Though Cyrus’s parents left before the final shot, with Miley supposed to be appearing topless, the source said: "Miley’s grandmother and her teacher were there when she shot it. Annie convinced them it was going to be artistic. Her parents are mortified. They know this is a learning moment for Miley.

"The photo suggests that she is [without clothes on], but she is not. She is covered by a sheet, and beneath the sheet she is clothed. Originally, she was in a flesh-colored tank top but was asked to remove it."

SHOCKING!!! Not only were Miley’s parents present, her grandmother and teacher were there during the photo shoot where Miley took her clothes off. If someone asked you to take your clothes off, wouldn’t you immediately sense something wasn’t right? Wouldn’t a responsible daughter, or grandmother, tell Leibovitz to stop until they got the parents’ permission? Leibovitz would have had to get Miley’s parents to sign a consent form in order to legally do that kind of a photo shoot. Wouldn’t she?

Miley has grown out of her wholesome Hannah Montana role, and is becoming the next Lindsay Lohan, yet Disney still wants Miley to sell the Hannah Montana image. Who’s worse Disney or Vanity Fair?

ET reports that Vanity Fair Editors have now responded to Miley Cyrus’ statement that she feels "embarrassed" by an upcoming photo of her without clothes on in the new Vanity Fair issue. Vanity Fair editors said:

"Miley’s parents and/or minders were on the set all day. Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot and everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley. In fact, when Bruce Handy interviewed Miley, he asked her about the photo and she was very cheerful about it and thought it was perfectly fine."

There you have it. Miley’s parents, and Miley, knew exactly what was going on the whole time. They only have themselves to blame.

Disney needs to FIRE Miley before she gets more out-of-control!

Who is exploiting Miley more, Disney or Vanity Fair?
