The Daily Mail says today that Amy Winehouse and her husband have flown to the US to immediately begin an intensive drug counseling and detox program after finally admitting that they have a serious drug problem. Winehouse, who collapsed last week after taking a cocktail of heroin, ecstasy, cocaine and the horse tranquilizer ketamine.

Winehouse decided to take action over her problems during crisis talks at a five-star hotel in Hampshire where she was recovering with her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil.

She was reported to have been caught smoking heroin in her suite by a friend, at which point her father Mitch flipped.

Mitch arrived the next day with his wife Janis, and Fielder-Civil’s stepfather Giles Civil and mother Georgette.
According to a source close to the family, the meeting descended into a row and at one point Mr Winehouse grabbed Mr Civil by the throat.

The source told a newspaper: "It broke Amy’s heart to see her parents and in-laws fighting. That was when she realized the drink and drugs were causing problems for everyone." Blake and Winehouse both denied injecting heroin.

The source said: "At one point both Amy and Blake stripped to prove they had not been using needles.
"But they realise that if they don’t get help now, they will both die young. This is their wake-up call."
The couple flew to the US later on Saturday and are today in their third day of intensive counseling and detox treatment.

No needle marks except for that one Amy got after her husband shot her with a tranquilizer dart while he hovered above her in a helicopter. It seems odd Amy would fly to the U.S. to get treatment when she was already in rehab, but she probably heard how successful rehab has been for Britney and Lindsay.

Yesterday I said, "Amy needs to be involuntarily admitted for a psychiatric consult, and then shipped off to involuntary rehab, because now it’s a life or death situation." Guess what? Amy Winehouse went to The Priory rehab centre last night. Here’s more:

Amy Winehouse will die unless she tackles her demons, friends of the singer warned last night.

Amy, 23, who was rushed to hospital after collapsing on Wednesday, checked into The Priory rehab centre in London yesterday as family members admitted that her relentless drink and drug lifestyle had pushed her to the brink.

One friend said: "It’s not an exaggeration to say that unless she sorts herself out, this relentless dalliance with drink and drugs will only have one ending. And it won’t be happy. It’s time for some tough love which is why we’ve taken her to get help."

Sounds like she was involuntarily admitted. Tough love. On the bright side, now she can sing about rehab, and how it’s like a magical garden where everyone is smiling, playing games, and sucking on lollipops.

The Sun UK is reporting today that Amy Winehouse was admitted to the hospital for a drug overdose, and not exhaustion as her record company reported. The Sun says Amy was given adrenaline and her stomach pumped. Let’s get technical for a moment. Adrenaline would be used only if Amy was having a circulatory collapse from her heart stopping, or a severe lack of fluids, but they would simply give her fluids intravenously first. Adrenaline causes the heart to beat fast, and so do some drugs, which means that it is unlikely she received adrenaline, unless staff thought she was overdosing and having a very severe allergic reaction to something, and couldn’t give her benadryl due to its sedative side effect. It is likely her stomach was pumped. First they might try gastric lavage to try to get out pill fragments, but in this case staff shove a big tub down her throat and into her stomach. Bottles of activated charcoal are then fed into the tube to absorb any drugs still in her stomach. The gastric lavage part is technically the stomach pumping. The drug used to stop the drugs in her blood from working is usually Narcan, but it is most effective with opiate drugs, so it really depends on what she overdosed on.

Amy needs to be involuntarily admitted for a psychiatric consult, and then shipped off to involuntary rehab, because now it’s a life or death situation.

It’s a wonder Amy has any fans left at all. She doesn’t show up to half her concerts, and yet she still gets nominated for awards. I wouldn’t give her a job as a scarecrow, even though she’d probably be darn good at it.

TMZ just broke the story that Amy Winehouse was rushed to the hospital after a bit of an "incident" this morning.

Winehouse’s rep confirms to TMZ that the tatted up singer was taken to a London hospital and treated for "exhaustion." The rep says Winehouse has since been discharged and is currently at home. She has been ordered to take "complete rest."

When asked what prompted this, the rep would only say "it came about quickly." No other details were available.

Winehouse’s rep says that the singer’s grueling world tour schedule is most likely to blame.

Is it just me or is "exhaustion" blamed for everything from herpes to cocaine withdrawals in the entertainment world? I’m no doctor but I’m pretty sure I’ve got the cure for Amy: Take two calories and call me in the morning.

On Tuesday night Amy Winehouse was onstage crying, and hitting herself in the head with the microphone, then she started spitting on the crowd. After that the crowd grew angry and started leaving.

A witness said, "The gig became absolutely awful. Members of her entourage were coming on to the stage, obviously worried she couldn’t go on, and she would just shout "f_ _ k off" at them. Everyone in the crowd just felt sorry for her."

Her spokesman said, "Amy was annoyed with herself. She is a bit ring rusty after not having played for a while and was upset after making a few mistakes in the set."

It’s a good thing Amy doesn’t perform as a knife thrower. Imagine the crowd reaction if Amy started throwing knives at them, foom foom foom. Ha ha ha! Got your top hat, got your iPod, got your balls.
