Steven Curtis Chapman Daughter Killed in Accident

The 5 year-old daughter, Maria Sue, of Christian, and Grammy winning, musician Steven Curtis Chapman was killed Wednesday by an SUV driven by her teenage brother. Maria was playing in the driveway when her brother back over her. He said he didn’t see her.

I had a teacher who did the very same thing to his daughter who wa about the same age. He was never the same after that. The guilt, and loss, is almost too much to handle.

Two other children witnessed the terrible tragedy. The Tennessee Highway Patrol said no charges will be filed.

The family have three adopted daughters from China, and three biological children. The daughter who was killed is pictured below being held by Steven.

Very sad.

    i feel so unworthy to be praying for a well known person as yourself but in Gods eyes we are all equal. As a parent, we can only feel for you and pray for relief from this suffering.

    I am so sorry and hurt for you and your entire family.I lost my mother on a very tragic way,and cannot even imagine suffering the loss of one of my children like that.Your ministry is such a blessing to others,and I pray that our prayers will comfort you and bless you now.I know that you know the Healer,and I pray you will sense His presence in a powerful awsome way,as you approach the days and months ahead.I especially want your son to know that he is in our prayers,and I pray he will allow the comforter to comfort him,and not allow Satan to lead him down a road of guilt.Because this is a very unfortunate accident,that has happened to others as well.Only time and God will heal the pain!Praise God for his faithfulness.

    Now your beautiful Cinderella is dancing with Jesus. You and your family are in our prayers. Just remember that God had planned on taking Maria home that day before she was created in her mother’s womb so I hope that her big brother realizes that and doesn’t let this destroy his life.

    My heart is broken for the Chapman family. Loving my children as I do; I can not imagine the hurt that is present in their hearts. My heart aches for the child whose life will forever be altered because he simply didn’t see his little sister. This young man is going to require much prayer and much love in the coming days, months, years. With God, ALL things are possible and so I will continue to lift the Chapman’s before the throne of the Father who loves all of His children.
