Sarah Palin, and her family, have been subjected to unprecedented scrutiny, and has been smeared by many in the liberal media. Here are eight lies that have been responded to with the truth:

1) Palin “Joined a Secessionist Political Party”

The Charge: Unsubstantiated Internet reports insisted Palin was once a member of the Alaska Independence Party, which critics call a secessionist political movement and supporters say is dedicated to seeking greater state control over federal lands across Alaska.

The Facts: Palin has been a registered Republican since 1982. There is no record of her ever being a member of the AIP, or any party but the GOP. Palin’s husband has been a member of the AIP in the past, but since 2002 has been a registered independent.

(See: Party Official Says Palin Was Not a Member)

2) Palin Supported a “Nazi Sympathizer”

The Charge: “Palin was a supporter of Pat Buchanan, a right-winger or, as many Jews call him: a Nazi sympathizer,” Obama Florida spokesman Mark Bubriski was quoted as saying in a Miami Herald article.

The Facts: While mayor of Wasilla, Palin wore a Buchanan button during the sometimes presidential candidate’s 1999 visit. But Palin actually supported Steve Forbes in 2000, and served as a co-chair on his Alaska campaign.

In the weeks after the 1999 report of her wearing the Buchanan button, Palin said: “When presidential candidates visit our community, I am always happy to meet them. I’ll even put on their button when handed one as a polite gesture of respect. … The article may have left your readers with the perception that I am endorsing this candidate, as opposed to welcoming his visit to Wasilla.”

(See: Obama campaign advisor quote is from an e-mail sent to the Miami Herald)

3) Palin “Wants Creationism Taught in School”

The Charge: Palin opposes the teaching of evolution, and would mandate the teaching of creationism in the state’s public schools.

The Facts: Palin said during her 2006 gubernatorial campaign that she would not push the state Board of Education to add creation-based alternatives to the state’s required curriculum, or look for creationism advocates when she appointed board members. She has kept this pledge, according to the Associated Press.

Palin has spoken in favor of classroom discussions of creationism, in some cases. “I don’t think there should be a prohibition against debate if it comes up in class. It doesn’t have to be part of the curriculum,” Palin told the Anchorage Daily News in a 2006 interview.

(See: ‘Creation science’ enters the race; Palin is only candidate to suggest it should be discussed in schools. By Tom Kizzia, Anchorage Daily News, 27 October 2006)

4) Palin “Was Nearly Recalled” While Mayor

The Charge: Palin was so controversial as mayor of Wasilla that she was almost recalled by a popular voter movement.

The Facts: The Wasilla City Council considered but never took up a recall motion after she fired a longtime police chief, who subsequently brought a lawsuit. A citizen’s group dropped their recall bid, and a judge ruled Palin had the authority to fire the chief.

(See: Foes Back Off Push to Recall Mayor)

5) Palin “Opposes Sex Education”

The Charge: Palin opponents say she supported the end of all sex education in public schools. In light of her daughter’s presumably unplanned teen pregnancy, this has been a particularly well discussed Internet topic.

The Facts: “The explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support,” Palin wrote in a 2006 questionnaire distributed among gubernatorial candidates. Palin favors abstinence-based sex education programs.

(See: McCain fought money on teen pregnancy programs, By Sharon Theimer, Associated Press, Sept. 2, 2008)

6) “This Picture Proves Palin is …”

The Charge: A slew of fake, Photoshopped or misdated photographs on the Internet purport to show Palin in any number of embarrassing or compromising poses. One photo claimed to show Palin standing poolside, wearing an American flag-themed bikini, toting a rifle with telescopic sight.

The Facts: The various photos are being discredited and shown to be fake on a number of Web sites. The original of the so-called bikini shot, probably the best-known of the pictures, was shown to have been taken of another woman, with Palin’s head Photoshopped above the body.

(See: Call to Arms)

7) Palin is the grandmother, and not the mother, of Trig Palin

The Charge: The most salacious rumor of all, this theory holds that Palin did not give birth to her son Trig in April, and was actually covering up for her daughter, Bristol.

The Facts: There are a number of photographs showing an apparently pregnant Sarah Palin, as well as a number of published eyewitness accounts of her pregnancy. These include First Lady Laura Bush, who says she spoke with a pregnant Palin at a governor’s conference in February. An assignment manager for KTVA news in Anchorage, Cherie Shirey, has also been quoted saying: “We worked with Governor Palin many times in 2008. Our reporters worked her on location and in the studio and I worked with her myself. She was definitely pregnant. You could see it in her belly and her face. The whole idea that Sarah Palin wasn’t pregnant with Trig is completely, absolutely absurd.”

The McCain campaign, in an apparent effort to counteract the rumors, announced last weekend that Bristol Palin is five months pregnant, which indicated she would have become pregnant before Trig was born, and is still pregnant, meaning she isn’t the mother of Trig.

8 ) Palin cheated on her husband Todd

The Charge: Rumors have bee spread alleging Sarah had an affair with her husband’s divorced business partner.

The Facts: Todd’s partner, Scott Richter, filed to have his divorce file sealed, causing the National Enquirer to allege he was trying to hide an affair with Sarah. The judge denied the request to seal the records, so the Smoking Gun went through the records, and found Palin’s name only mentioned in the motion to seal the records. Richter said in his motion he wanted the records sealed, because reporters were using phone numbers, and other information in those records, to violate his privacy, so he felt sealing the records would stop future reporters from contacting him, and others listed in the records. There is absolutely no evidence that Richter and Sarah had an affair. John McCain threatened to sue the National Enquirer over the story, and now with the new evidence, it appears the National Enquirer will need a good lawyer if McCain moves ahead with the lawsuit.

Damn, I thought this was going to be about all the lies Palin tells on a regular basis.. Like how she claims to have been against the bridge to nowhere (she supported it) and how she claims to have sold the jet on ebay (she didn’t). Then again, hopefully the people who read this are smart enough to do their own research from several sources, and not rely on your ridiculously biased blog. Truly, Michael Moore and Rush Limbaugh are moderate by comparison =P

    ***HG says***

How many boxes of tissue have you used so far on our Palin posts?

  2. Hankmeister says:

My bad, I meant to excoriate HG, not independent voter who was asking HG for some proof.

  3. Hankmeister says:

Isn’t it interesting how the left always spew their venom about all the supposed “lies” told by Sarah Palin – none of which had been documented by factcheck or snopes – and yet totally ignore the innumerable lies told by the left about Sarah Palin? It’s the new MO of the liberal Democrats, flood the blogosphere with the most vile and absolute trash about Mrs. Palin and then snicker as documentarians have to run every lie to the ground. In the meantime left-wing partisan hacks write faux journalistic hit pieces that are based on nothing but rumor, half-truths and innuendo to feed to their sicko readers who believe just about everything that is anti-Bush/anti-conservative/anti-Palin/anti-McCain/blame-America. It’s almost a pathological sickness on such a scale it boggles the mind just how easily liberals want to believe outright lies. We’re not merely talking about interpretations of hard facts but rather mean-spirited, documented lies.

And if anyone dares write the truth about the multiple lies and flip-flops committed by their messiah Obama, his acolytes in their sheer wrath will call you a liar even when you can provide clear documentation of his lies … like him saying he’d fillibuster the FISA law and then ended up voting for it, the time he took credit for “helping to pass” a bill to help disabled veterans when he didn’t even vote on it or the time he claimed the Senate Bank Committee was “his committee” that helped pass an Iran divestment bill when he doesn’t even belong to the committee and therefore it’s impossible for him to even chair a committee! I can list many many more, but you see, I’m the liar and they aren’t.

Kudos to this site for revealing these left-wing lies for what they are, pure spiteful lies. But it’s totally irresponsible of the so-called “independent voter” above to self-righteously rant about Sarah’s supposed “lies and twists” without providing once ounce of evidence she has lied about her record … except maybe to produce some more lies found at left-wing or anarchist websites like those above.

And BTW, what politician hasn’t spun the unvarnished truth, even lightly, to cast their record in the most favorable light possible … but doing so doesn’t make them liars. If so, Obama is the biggest liar of them all which is ironic given how tissue-thin his public service resume really is. And this is the guy who offers “change” while doing what every other politician is doing or has done? He’s an empty suit, a political opportunist who has stepped on any number of people and taken credit for things he hasn’t done and that’s no lie.

Oh,and Earl, using the same stupid logic and innuendo you do I can “prove” Barack Obama isn’t really a “natural born” American and was in fact born in Kenya to an eighteen year old American mother who was one year short of being of proper age to confer automatic citizenship to baby Barack. And when it looked like Obama was going to be the Dems presidential nominee both the Hawaiian authorities and the Kenyan authorities took down their birth certificate websites when questions about Obama’s true birth status began being raised. Ya see, two can play at your little game of half-truths and innuendo. Nice job, pal, unless you’re really being sarcastic and have bamboozled me with a clever parody.

  4. It is too bad that Sarah Palin chooses to lie and twist her record so much, and that McCain contibutes to the effort, all presumably to make her seem somehow qualified. It is rapidly turning me off to John McCain. What happened to his good judgement?

    ***HG says***

An approval rating of 90% as Alaska’s governor tells us that Sarah Palin’s record is something Barack Obama wishes he could brag about, but alas, Obama has no executive experience.

  5. Sean P says:

Sarah Palin is a compulsive liar.

    ***HG says***

You need to cite examples for anyone to believe you, and since you don’t you have no credibility. For all anyone knows, you are the liar.

  6. Earl says:

I believe everyone here wants to know ALL the truth..not just bits

So here are a few questions Ms Palin before the election:

    1. Since you were pregnant and you started to leak fluid, during a
speech in Texas, you chose to finish your speech and then fly for
11 hours back to Alaska. And then drive for 45 minutes to a hospital
in a small town to have a baby with health problems.

How so?…you would think that you would want the best care possible
for yourself and the baby at a large city to handle your needs.

    2. I read in your newspaper that you gave birth to a 6lb 2oz baby boy.
Which you have told us that he was born 4 weeks premature.

Does a premature baby not weigh less if premature?..just asking.
Did you transport yourself and baby to a neo-natal unit because he was premature?..No because you were back to work 3 days after giving birth. THAT’S ODD

3.Why are all the family pictures taken off the govt and other websites?

Are there things there you don’t want us to see?…Too late we’ve already seen them.

    4. It’s odd that the only baby’s parents name that was born in the hospital on that day was definitely NOT Palin. Newspapers are printed

Looks like the MSM hasn’t the gazoo’s to check on these questions because the Repub will call it “sexist”

    HERE’S MY TAKE ON IT….

You got a phone call when in Texas that Bristol was going into labor, so you booted it for home to make a good coverup.

Either there are going to be a lot of people perjure themselves, either way you and McWar are in a whole pile of hurt.

WAIT FOR IT…..NATIONAL ENQUIRE IS DOING MSM’S HOMEWORK

  7. James says:

There’s no publicly available proof that Sarah Palin was ever a member of the AIP. Her husband was but then he officially changed his affiliation a few years back. Just because at least two high ranking AIP officials mistakenly stated that Palin was also former member of their party and seem to hold the belief that she is sympathetic to their cause is no reason for the left-wing media make up all this nonsense. When she addressed the AIP a few months back it was only by video. According to the McCain campaign, she personally attended an AIP convention in Wasilla back in 2000, and this was just a courtesy since she was Mayor. Her husband re-registered with the AIP that same year, but again, that was what, like eight years ago? Besides, he’s Independent now, so clearly there’s no substance for all of the liberal hysteria regarding Palin’s association with secessionists.
Regarding the store about her nearly being recalled, this is a total and complete unfounded lie. Just because a citizen’s group made a bid for her recall and the city council took it under consideration does not mean there’s any substance to such a rumor that she was nearly recalled. The Democrats are obviously desperate. How can the liberal media claim that Palin is opposed to sex-education? Another unfounded lie. She clearly supports abstinence-only programs, and what’s wrong with that? If we teach kids about birth-control that could lead to pre-marital as well as underage sex.
Then there’s the totally erroneous claim that Palin wants creationism taught in school. That could not be further from the truth. She clearly stated that she supports discussions of creationism in the classroom. That’s completely different. How can these leftist bloggers interpret “discussions” as “teaching”? They are running scared and are making things up just to discredit her.

  8. Jay says:

It really makes me laugh…. All these people saying Sarah is so smart and this and that….but I have yet to hear her answer just 1 question. Are you kidding me..Talk about judging a book by its cover. All I know so far is that she can read a speech that was written for her and that she can be really rude and demeaning…Big deal…I dont care about her personal life, but geez lets see if you can really handle the job and quit hiding. John McSame really messed up this time…..

  9. jay says:

Jeez, If Palin slapped a person HG would be calling her Jesus by now for ‘laying hands’ on the poor.

There is such a thing as overselling…

  10. Patrick says:

She seems pretty buddy-buddy with the party to me.

  11. Vic says:

You can’t photoshop vidoo’s just do a youtube search to see her encourage the Alaska Independence Party. The last time I checked, this is treason. If not her then her husband. Wow and you don’t think this is going to explode once she has to address this with the media? How do spin this one?

    *********Admin**********

The truth is Sarah was never part of the Alaska Independence Party. Click here to read the article.

  12. Cody says:

I wouldn’t even want talk about creationism in school… it’s not a science.

  13. Donna says:

McCain/Palin has my vote. She is incredible. Intelligent, beautiful, accomplished – all the things that get a woman slammed. Hillary can’t even compare. YOU GO GIRL! Black women want you, not someone who will set racism back 50 years like Obama. His reverse-racism will only do us great harm in the long run.

  14. Qman says:

Keep up the good work, HG – just whiners commenting so far. Palin is a great choice, and the libs are scared ’cause they don’t know how to attack her without actually helping the McCain-Palin ticket. These are just more Bush Bashers crying because real Americans will again elect the best presidential combination to lead America forward. So, get ready for 8 more years of ‘he’s not my president,’ my left-tipping friends.

  15. wanda says:

stop whoring sarah palin already. every damn post is ’sarah palin is fabulous’, ‘that rumour about sarah palin is false’ ’sarah palin is my birth mother’. you think the media is so bias is against her but you’re showing blatant bias by constantly defending her so vehemently. shut your blabber hole.

  16. Debbie says:

Dont know if she was a member of the Alaska Independence Party, but you can certainly find a video of her addressing this groups convention in March of this year, congratulating them and encouraging them to keep up the good work, whatever that is supposed to mean. So obviously she has some close connection with them and strangely as governor doesn’t find anything strange in addressing them and encouraging them.

McCain just created a major security risk in nominating her as VP. A small town politician could end up in charge of a super power and have to mix in a tough international world she knows nothing about. She cant sack half the world if they disagree with her.

God help America if McCain now wins – hopefully he will drop her for Lieberman – then that would be a good team.
