Sarah Palin, the republican Vice Presidential nominee of John McCain, has a 17 year-old daughter, Bristol Palin, who is pregnant. Bristol plans to keep the baby, and marry the father. Sarah herself announced the news, in keeping with her open and honest approach to public life, unlike democratic leaders like John Edwards, and Bill Clinton, who chose to lie to keep their misdeeds a secret. Despite Bill’s lies, he still had to pay out almost $1 million in a sexual harassment lawsuit while he was still president, yet Democrats still love and respect him.

Liberal bloggers today began spreading a false rumor that Sarah faked her down syndrome pregnancy, giving birth in May, to cover up for her pregnant daughter seen in the picture above on the far right. It makes no sense that a 17 year-old would give birth to a down syndrome baby, but it does make sense that a woman over 40 could.

Sarah released the following statement today, while also asking the media to give their daughter, and the baby’s father Levi Johnston, privacy.:

"We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us."

"Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support."

"Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media, respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates."

There are a lot of questions about Bristol, like if she has finished high school yet, and if she sleeps around. Judging from reader response to Jamie Lynn Spears getting pregnant at 16 years-old, most people don’t approve of pregnancy under the age of 18, but still encourage parents to support those children for the sake of the baby. Thankfully, Bristol fell comfortable enough to tell her parents the truth, and took responsibility for her actions. Sarah has not made the same mistake as her daughter, so she tried to set a good example, unfortunately, despite trying to lead by example, all families make mistakes. The important thing is to be there for each other when mistakes happen, which is what the Palin family is doing. That’s a good republican family.

As the rumors and criticism from liberal Democrats are voiced from today on, remember that those same Democrats, and even Barack Obama himself, says that Michelle Obama, and other family members should be "off limits" in a political campaign, and that Obama should not be judged by his association with criminals, America hating racists, and terrorists. Those same Democrats won’t even think twice about going after a pregnant 17 year-old girl, who needs support more than she needs a nervous breakdown from public criticism.

John McCain was aware that Bristol was 17 and pregnant when he chose her mother Sarah to be his vice president. Democrats sling harsh criticism at Republicans who make mistakes, which is the price they pay for trying to lead by example, but the truth is no one is perfect, and Republicans like McCain know that fact. Even Dick Cheney knows no one is perfect. Cheney’s daughter is a lesbian who not only lives with her partner, but they have a baby they are now raising.

The fact is Sarah is just like most good mothers, and women, in America. She tries her best, but makes mistakes like the rest of us. One fact remains however, she has accomplished a lot as governor of Alaska that others said could not be done, and she isn’t bragging about it. Sarah deserves a lot of credit and respect for how she conducts herself in politics, and in her personal life. I am hopeful that McCain and Palin are elected on November 4, so that honesty and integrity can once again lead this country to a better future.

Oh, and for all of those people who say we should leave bristol alone and focus on Sarah Palin’s views, well this is part of it. The Republican party is against teen pregnancy… they support abstinence. They look down on teen mothers. I guess Sarah Palin and her family really aren’t the “great Republican family” are they?

  2. hatepalin says:

Get off your high horses talking about the “good Republican family”. GIVE ME A BREAK! YOU act as if Republicans, and Sarah Palin are Mother Teresa. Guess what? They aren’t. Republicans are no worse than democrats. Face it: Bristol made a BIG mistake. One that will impact her life forever. There goes a good chunk of her life: her 20’s. She will now be devoted to a child (not that that is a bad thing) but being in my 20’s and having all of my girlfriends (childless may I add) I would never want to give up my freedom. Maybe if Palin actually believed in sex education, her daughter wouldn’t have gotten pregnant. So many parents don’t talk to their kids about the consequences of sex and that’s when you get a girl like Bristol Palin… Oh, and I LOVE how when Jamie Lynn Spears got pregnant, FOX (a right leaning tv station) slandered her and said this would have never happened if it weren’t for her mother, Lynn Spears. FOX reporters, analyists, hypocrits came on the station saying that when a teenager gets pregnant, it IS the parent’s fault. So now, a year later, why are they saying “Oh, it’s not Sarah or Bristols fault. It’s God’s gift to the 17 year old, unwed, ungraduated from high school girl!!!!”

Thank you someone who knows a little about stats, it’s exactly what I wanted to say! A sane woman with an at risk pregnancy, particularly her 5th, would go to a hospital if labor started, not fly home. Most of the people I know who have had three children speak of how quickly they come out. With the 5th birth, premature, and with low birth weight her story of giving a speech and flying home just makes no sense. If it is true, she doesn’t have the necessary good judgement to be in such a position.

  4. jay says:

The republicans have always been selling teen abstinance as part of their morality pitch. So here we have a republican VP who can’t even run her own home?

When Britney’s lil’ sis got pregnant HG’s opinion was less than candid. Buuuuuut because Palin’s kid is exactly that…suddenly she’s a good girl. LoL

  5. Alex says:

Bristol is a 17 year old girl. Most 17 year old girls aren’t going to listen to their parents because, thats how some teenagers are. People should respect their family and let them live their lives and focus on only her mother political views.

  6. Mommy is so busy with politics she can’t do the job of raising her five kids , well six very soon, beacuse those teenage brats are not responsible and mature enoguh to raise a kid. And like we have seen in many other families, the grand-parents are the ones taking full responsibilities for their grandkids . Surely a very proud and representative “republican” family.

  7. 7he animal says:

dang she is a hottie i would F***** her 2!

  8. Matt S.. says:

“WASHINGTON – McCan’t, whose running mate disclosed that her unmarried 17-year-old daughter is pregnant, has opposed proposals to spend federal money on teen-pregnancy prevention programs and voted to require poor teen mothers to stay in school or lose their benefits.”

I don’t think the maverick is gonna be taking many questions from reporters anytime soon.

  9. squirly g says:

Aw gee, she’s such a good mom. When rumors were running rampant on the internet about whether or not she or Bristol mothered ‘lil trig she decided against one very simple solution: a statement from her attending physician. Instead Sarah thrusts her 17 year old daughter into the global spotlight. Maybe it’s because Sarah’s still unsure whether or not her son was born at Mat-Sur Regional Medical Center in Palmer or Providence Hospital in Anchorage…What a mom.

  10. kellie says:

It’s not like she is 13 or 14, she is almost an adult, this just proves that no one is perfect. and that there are no perfect parents. I can’t stand the fact that it came out as a negative thing, or it was a “secret”, it’s no ones business, she isn’t running for v.p., her mother is, and I think that sarah palin is proving how much of a real woman she is! I have 3 kids, 2 were born before I turned 18, and they all 3 have the same father, which I am still with, the only one I’ve ever been with, so to raise the question, does she sleep around, is wrong on so many levels! I didn’t sleep around, and my mom was home all of the time, I was just quiet…

  11. tom says:

This site jumps into every dirthole, but hails Maria, sorry Sarah Palin as salvation. Stupid, eh?
Vote McCain and Palin, let stupidity and incompetence rule on, in the US.

  12. Just a comment about Trisomy 21; yes, age is a big factor, but teens can also give birth to T21 babies. The incidence of Down syndrome is estimated at one per 800 to one per 1000 births.[12] In 2006, the Center for Disease Control estimated the rate as one per 733 live births in the United States (5429 new cases per year).[13] Approximately 95% of these are trisomy 21. Down syndrome occurs in all ethnic groups and among all economic classes.

Maternal age influences the chances of conceiving a baby with Down syndrome. At maternal age 20 to 24, the probability is one in 1562; at age 35 to 39 the probability is one in 214, and above age 45 the probability is one in 19.[14] Although the probability increases with maternal age, 80% of children with Down syndrome are born to women under the age of 35,[15] reflecting the overall fertility of that age group. Recent data also suggest that paternal age, especially beyond 42,[16] also increases the risk of Down Syndrome manifesting in pregnancies in older mothers.[17]

  13. Laurie Capps says:

Perez Hilton you are not and thank God for that! He went as far as calling this young lady a whore and casting stones as though he’s never done anything wrong. It hurts my heart to see those kind of comments and this article was written the way it should be. It let us know that we’re all humans regardless if we’re a VP nominee or not. Kudos to you!

  14. Youngblood says:

Where do you people come from? Look around you! Whether your liberal or conservative, Sarah Palin has a history of getting the job done in the best interest of the people and that’s what this country needs.

Family values have nothing to do with teen age pregnancy, Barack Obama’s mother was a teen when she had him…stepping up and accepting responsibility for your actions are values that most teens are clueless about, obviously Bristol is up for the challenge.

Oh and Lola, who are you to judge?

  15. Lisa says:

Typical left wing hypocrisy- criticize conservatives for believing in abstinence, criticize them when they are human and make a mistake. For those of you too ignorant to understand family values: Family values not only entail teaching your children right from wrong, but also when they mistake how to deal with it. At least we know that since she is coming from a conservative family, we (the tax payers) won’t be paying for them or that the baby will be aborted to hide her mistake like a liberal would.

  16. Lola Wright says:

I don’t undetstand Sarah Palin. She is absolutely right-wring, which is fine with me. But, because she is supposed to be on the “family values” side, why is she running for Vice President at this time in her life? It seems to me her children need more tending to right now while they are so young. Who is going to raise her special needs child? Where was she when her daughter got pregnant? And what about the OTHER THREE children? Sarah Palin and John McCain frighten me!!

  17. Now here’s some real Conservative values. Republicans are becoming more and more Liberal everyday. There’s hope for mankind after all.

  18. barry nolan says:

The kind of reform Palin represents is rather curious. In 2006 when running for Gov. – she was very keen on The Bridge To Nowhere – supported it – liked it – wanted to see it happen. When the price ballooned to $400 million – she saw the writing on the bridge and finally pulled the plug. But she didn’t send the taxpayers money back to the lower 48 – she spent it – all of it – on other projects just as porky. So now she is claiming credit for being a great reformer and stopping the bridge to nowhere – perhaps at least one press person will ask her about her statements in 2006 – and ask about how much she and Alaska returned from that earmark.

  19. Anna Lisa says:

This is exactly why we need to bring family values back in this country! THis makes me absolutely sick. I will not be voting this year. Thanks so much Senator McCain!

  20. Ted says:

This is a plus. As Mark Steyn points out in his recent best seller, America Alone, if our western civilization is demographically to survive in the increasingly “hostile to the west” islamic world — and not end up like the sinking European populations — these are the precise people (the Bristol Palins’) we should thank for increasing their progeny.

  21. bristol says:

Although I respect this woman. She makes me think anything is possible. She has five children, a husband and a high profile job. However,She is not qualify to be vp. She holds only a bachelors degree. Has only been the governor for alaska, a place with just a few people. It does not hold the same diversity and distinction as a place like NYC. She needs to focus on the problems at home with her young children. One of which is pregnant before graduating H.S.

  22. Steve says:

Keep in mind. This is only 3 days after she was introduced to the world. There will be more skeletons flying out of her closet if she doesn’t resign from VP consideration soon. This is a total disaster for the McCain campaign, as all us clear thinking, non-partisan Americans predicted it would be 3 days ago.

  23. Lucas says:

Nice, McCain. What kind of soldier uses a pregnant 17-year-old girl as a political shield? You knew what this was going to do, how it would divert attention away from your policies. You are throwing her under the bus.
