Roger Avary, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of Pulp Fiction has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and driving under the influence. Avary was behind the wheel in a single-car crash early Sunday morning in Ventura County.

His wife was thrown from the car. She was hospitalized and is in stable condition. Another passenger, Andreas Zini (34) of Italy, was killed.

Avary recently co-wrote the epic film Beowulf.

He was booked on suspicion of manslaughter and DUI but later released on $50,000 bail.

What’s wrong with celebrities? Why is it so hard to hire a driver, take a cab, a limo, or have a designated driver take them home rather than driving drunk?
