Richard Gere Has obscenity Complaint Filed Against Him

  Share

Three lawyers filed complaints in Indian courts against actor Richard Gere and Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty for kissing at a public function, a news report said Wednesday.

In his complaint, attorney Poonal Chandra Bhandari accused the actors of committing "an obscene act" in a public place, which India’s conservative society cannot tolerate, Press Trust of India said.

Two other lawyers filed another complaint in a court in Ghaziabad, a town on the outskirts of the Indian capital, against Shetty and private television channels for showing videos of the kissing incident, the news agency added.

What should Gere do to make things right?

  2. Md says:

wot doesnt make any sense is that a simple affectionate kiss is SUCH a big deal. But i guess in the eyes of the conservative society of India, despite having over a BILLION in population, indecent exposure in the form of a kiss is scandalizing their culture, guess wot happens INSIDE doesnt count. Word for the wise to the lawyers of india: check out the indian porn industry mate! Richard Gere would not even FIT to a Homosexual scene,lol..

Indians would be touchy about these things i can imagine (i’m indian residing in west indies).. btw kissing is now shown on few major indians movies and we expect indians would get more bold in movies as time passes (its a reality, get with it) ~ however Gere should understand Indians feelings about these issues at present and co-hosting with a much publicized indian actress as shilpa, he should have been more careful, gay or not. Indian revere their own race and are still uncomfotable is interracial relationships nomatter what part of the world they are (generally), and also would respect their women (even not their own) ~ Gere should have been more careful, and known is audience is the conservative and proud type ~ he should simply give a sincere apology.. indian’s probably wont digest it rightaway.. but it’ll start some positive resolve for him atleast.

Duh! He should’ve perform kama sutra with her instead.

    That’s India for ya…

OH and Gere is NOT gay…

In many parts of India, kissing in public IS just as bad as having sex in public. Different moral standards. Most “Bollywood” films will not show kissing scenes, or will have them silhouetted if they do kiss. Ironic in the country associated with the Kama Sutra, but….centuries of Muslim rule, and then the ultra-prudish Victorian overlords of the 1800’s helped make kissing taboo.

And he’s gay, for crying out loud.

  8. me says:

Nothing! He freaking kissed her! It’s not like they had sex on the stage. How is a kiss obscene?
