Actually I think he was suggesting that anyone who thinks that banning gay marriage is a higher priority than finding renewable energy solutions is a ‘nut job’, and to be honest I completely agree with him. It’s far more important to ensure the continued availability of power without reliance on fossil fuels, whereas if two dudes want a legal certificate to give them the same rights as a heterosexual couple, they ought to be afforded it; just because it’s not our way doesn’t mean it’s not valid.
Your quote”trying to directly change the institution of marriage, which goes back in history many thousands of years all over the world” followed by saying “Remember one thing as our country moves forward” seems like an obvious contradiction…

The majority of voters in California don’t agree with you.

Conservative Republican Ronald Reagan was the governor of California from 1967 to 1975. There are a large number of conservatives in California, which is a great state, with great people who live in that State. It might seem like there are a lot of nuts who live in California, and there are, just like every other state, but there is a large population that form the solid conservative foundation of California, which keeps the state from falling off the deep end.

Remember one thing as our country moves forward, we are all Americans, and we are in this together. It’s better to work together, than to work against each other.

It wasn’t an overwhelming majority and may be reversed once absentee and provisional ballots are counted.
