Pete Doherty makes the Shambles proud

He may be a coke-head, dope-smoking occasional crack user with eye bags larger than an overweight panda’s, but (call me crazy) there’s definitely something sexy about Pete Doherty. Despite being on a constant high the London lad still manages to come across as fairly talented with a gee-tar and has been putting in a surprising amount of effort in the studio with his Babyshambles band mates this week whilst they work on their new album.

Drew McConnell, the band’s bassist, is documenting the lads’ recording sessions in London’s Olympic studio on his MySpace blog. McConnell explains how "this second Shambles effort is loaded with a bounty of committed and driven performances by our band leader and first amongst equals. Suffice to say moral is high, nay giddy, amidst the Babyshambles Gang Of Gin."

He also says the Shambles “had the most focused and productive day with Peter yet", and that he is “in a band with my favorite singer in the whole world.”

You know the world’s gone crazy when while Lindsay Lohan is in rehab, and Paris Hilton is in jail, Kevin Federline is embarking on a big-screen adventure and Pete Doherty is successfully recording a new album. WTF? What happened to the good ol’ days of girl power?
