Paula Abdul Demands Apology from TMZ

Share

HG tried several times today to get a statement from Paula Abdul’s publicist, Jeff Ballard, but we only got a "No Comment." Finally late today we obtained a demand letter sent to TMZ, which explained everything.

Paula Abdul retained the law firm of Hantman & Associates, who then sent TMZ a letter at 4:34 PM today demanding a written apology to Paula be posted on TMZ, and reviewed prior by the law firm. Yesterday TMZ allegedly falsely alleged that Paula had a "martini" before American Idol yesterday, and TMZ implied that Paula’s alleged alcohol consumption was the reason for her strange behavior during the show (see video above).

We respect Paula’s right to keep personal issues private, and respect her right not to comment on her strange behavior, but that will do nothing to silence the speculation that has been building for over two years. More and more often reporters, and fans, are asking if Paula’s behavior is due to the alleged use of drugs or alcohol.

HG issued a challenge to Paula asking her to reassure concerned fans that she is not under the influence, but we got a "no comment," and learned that Paula will instead be taking legal action to silence those who bring attention to her strange behavior. Let me be the first to say to Paula, that talk and speculation about her behavior is merely peer pressure resulting from overwhelming concern for her health and safety. When Paula tripped over her dog and chipped her nose in May of 2007, concern for Paula was again voiced. Everyone wants to make sure Paula is OKAY.

Based on our poll today we had so far 330,545 people vote YES when asked if Paula should take a drug test, and 36 people vote No. That’s an overwhelming statement of concern for Paula. HG hopes Paula will put the mind of fans at ease by proving the rumors are as baseless as she claims, by taking a drug test. A negative drug test is the best defense against rumors and speculation.

lol, i was about to say about the “concern” thingy. but they’ve said it already ^^ psh, concerned. yeah right… if anyone is concerned, then don’t give a damn and stop speculating and spreading such false statements >.> those who agree with the poll just want to prove what they believe and that is she’s on drugs…

I don’t think anyone is concerned for Paula’s well-being either. I think if it looks like something to smear a person’s good name, the press wants to jump all over it. It’s pathetic. And to put up a poll as to whether she ought to take a drug test? Outrageous! How would those of you in the press having an ”off” day, want your privacy invaded like that? I’ve seen her reality show, and seen how hard she works and how stressed out she gets from all the pressure she’s under, how she is on the run all the time, she probably gets little sleep. I know that makes people act bizarre, I suffer insomnia too so I can sympathize. The vultures need to back off. It’s ridiculous the way people just accuse without the facts.

Nonsense. You’re not at all concerned about Paula’s health and well-being. You just smell a story. TMZ has to watch the wording of what they say. If they’re making false statements, either knowlingly or unknowingly, detrimental to her reputation they would be civilly liable in any action she might decide to take. If they say she had a martini before the show, they’d better make sure she did and have an eyewitness.
I don’t know if she did or not. I do know that she’s been on painkillers since her days as a dancer. I also know that she’s always been a kind of a dingbat. With Paula , she doesn’t need a martini to exhibit zoned-out behavior. That’s just Paula being Paula.
