Paris Hilton Convicted of DUI by Plea of No Contest

Paris Hilton has entered a plea of no contest in her DUI case, but the actual conviction is for alcohol related reckless driving rather than an actual DUI.
Hilton was not present when her lawyers, Howard Weitzman, and Shawn Chapman Holley, told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Sauer that the heiress would rather fold than fight.
The judge placed Hilton on 36 months probation. She was also given the option of completing probation in 24 months if she completes 40 hours of community service. No immediate decision was made on that option. The fines, plus penalty assessments, totaled about $1,500.
Judge Michael Sauer also ordered Hilton to attend an alcohol rehabilitation program and imposed other conditions.
Hilton was arrested September 7, 2006 in Hollywood. Her blood-alcohol level was .08, the threshold in California for being a drunk driver. Paris did an interview with Ryan Seacrest where Paris contradicted her own story, and made the case that she was intoxicated. The bottom line is, no matter what Paris said, she blew a .08 and was therefore legally drunk. Paris has also been pictured with marijuana.
"The city attorney believes that this is a fair disposition to this case," said Assistant City Attorney Ellen Sarmiento.
Hilton’s publicist, Elliot Mintz, confirmed the plea without further comment.
When will Paris get busted next, and which drug will she be on?
Next up is Nicole Richie who is awaiting her court date for her second DUI.
