Taylor Mitchell Killed by Coyotes

Taylor Mitchell (19), who was a singer and song writer, was killed by coyotes while she was hiking alone in Cape Breton Highlands National Park in Nova Scotia, Canada. Mitchell was attacked Tuesday, but died of her injuries on Wednesday. Mitchell was on tour promoting her album.
Paul Maynard of Emergency Health Services said Mitchell already was in critical condition when paramedics arrived on the scene and had multiple bite wounds over her entire body.
"She was losing a considerable amount of blood from the wounds," he said.
An official with Parks Canada said they blocked the entrance to the trail where Mitchell was attacked and were trying to find the animals to determine what prompted such an unusual attack.
"There’s been some reports of aggressive animals, so it’s not unknown," said Helene Robichaud, the park’s superintendent. "But we certainly never have had anything so dramatic and tragic."
Royal Canadian Mounted Police spokeswoman Brigdit Leger said other hikers heard Mitchell’s screams for help on Tuesday and called emergency police dispatchers.
Police who were in the area reached the scene quickly and shot one of the animals, apparently wounding it. But the wounded animal and a companion coyote managed to get away.
Lisa Weitz, Mitchell’s manager, said:
"Words can’t begin to express the sadness and tragedy of losing such a sweet, compassionate, vibrant, and phenomenally talented young woman. She just turned 19 two months ago, and was so excited about the future."
Mitchell was an up-and-coming folk and country musician who was nominated for a 2009 Canadian Folk Music Award in the Young Performer of the Year category.

Heath Ledger Directed Cause An Effect Music Video

Heath Ledger directed a music video for single Cause An Effect shortly before he died. The Australian rapper N’fa Forster-Jones for the band No Fixed Abode is a boyhood friend of Ledger’s.
Forster-Jones posted the Cause An Effect video on his YouTube and MySpace pages on Thursday.
Forster-Jones, who had been friends with Ledger since they were toddlers in the Australian city of Perth, said the video was shot in one day in the garage of Ledger’s beachside apartment. Forster-Jones described the day the music video was filmed:
"He gave me a call one morning, as he often did at crazy hours, and he’s like, ’N’fa, I’ve got this idea for a video.’"
"He was basically running around directing me each shot. It was a really cool day."
"Every day I count my blessings that I got to have him direct this piece of art."
The video was first shown at a collection of Ledger’s work at the Rome Film Festival earlier this month.
It’s easy to imagine all the great work Ledger would have created had he lived to a ripe old age.

Dennis Hopper Has Prostate Cancer

Dennis Hopper (73) has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and is canceling all travel plans to focus on treatment, his manager said Thursday.
The 73-year-old actor and artist is being treated through a "special program" at the University of Southern California, said Sam Maydew.
Asked about Hopper’s prognosis, Maydew said, "We’re hoping for the best." He would not elaborate on the actor’s condition.
Hopper was hospitalized in New York earlier this month for dehydration. Hopper also cancelled his appearance at an exhibition of his artwork and photography at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Melbourne, Australia.
Hopper is currently cast in the TV show Crash, and has several film projects lined up, but those projects may all be put on hold as Hopper receives treatment.
Taylor Swift and the Swastika Guy

Taylor Swift (19) attended a birthday party bash for Katy Perry in West Hollywood last weekend. At the party everyone painted stuff on their shirts. One guy painted a Swastika on his, and then took a picture with Taylor.
Taylor’s rep responded to the posting of these pictures that hit the Internet by saying:
"Taylor took pictures with about 100 people that night … she doesn’t know who this guy is and she didn’t realize what was on his shirt."
We believe Taylor’s rep, and we think the guy probably just painted that on his shirt to get attention, not because he believes all the bad stuff that the symbol used to signify back in WWII.
Trying to make these pictures into some sort of Taylor Swift scandal is a bit much.
