Oprah Speaks Out On Sex Abuse Scandal

Oprah Winfrey spoke out today on the sex abuse scandal that has rocked her newly opened Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls. The dorm matron that was arrested is now out of jail on bail. The matron’s name is Virginia Mokgobo. At today’s press conference Oprah said:
"I was, needless to say, devastated and really shaken to my core when I first heard this news. When I first heard about it I spent about a half-hour going around my house crying. No one can destroy the dream I have held, and each girl continues to hold, at the school."
Not having men involved in the school was supposed to eliminate the possibility of sexual abuse, but as Oprah has now learned the perception that men are always the perpetrators, and women are always the victim, is a myth. More than anything, Oprah’s team of professionals need to insure the safety of the girls at her school by making sure the girls are never again isolated and unable to communicate with whomever they wish. This morning Fox News debated the question of whether Oprah could be found liable for what happened, but the overall consensus was that she wouldn’t be. Hopefully something good comes out of all of this in the coming years. Click here to see part of Oprah’s statement.
