Norman Mailer is Dead

Norman Mailer died today at the age of 84. Mailer died of acute renal failure at Mount Sinai Hospital. Art Buchwald also died this year of renal failure. That’s two great writers we’ve lost this year, and many more on strike. Today is a good day to take a look around at all that writers contribute each and every day to our lives. From newspapers, to books, television shows, to movies, advertisements, and even our own children’s essays for school. There is a writer in all of us, but some like Mailer and Buchwald have a focus and skill that help them rise above the rest, to get our attention, and really make use laugh, think, and discuss what they write. Take a little time today to think about what writers have contributed to your life.
