Naomi Campbell Sued by Maid in Civil Case

On January 16, 2007 I wrote, "Mrs Scolavino could now file a civil case for damages from Campbell." Today Ana took my advice.
The maid, Ana Scolavino, who alleges Naomi Campbell assaulted her with a cell phone during an argument over a pair of missing jeans has launched a civil lawsuit against the supermodel.
Ana Scolavino accuses Campbell of assault, battery, libel, and slander, and is suing for unspecified damages. She was treated for a head injury following the incident in Campbell’s New York City home last March.
On Tuesday, the British beauty pleaded guilty to assault in Manhattan Criminal Court. She was ordered to pay Scolavino’s medical expenses, complete five days of community service and attend an anger management class.
But lawyers for Scolavino have now filed a civil case against Campbell in Brooklyn Supreme Court.
The suit claims: "As the plaintiff was descending an interior stairway within the apartment in an effort to leave the premises, she was placed in imminent apprehension of physical harm and was then intentionally struck in the head with a cell phone by the defendant."
How is Campbell being rewarded for her violent temper?
The beautiful but violent Rio de Janeiro invited the pretty but troubled Naomi Campbell to be its ambassador Friday, two days after she admitted in a New York court to throwing a mobile phone at her housekeeper.
The British Campbell, a prominent black supermodel, told the mayor she wanted to raise money for the poor in Rio, a multiracial city known for its vibrant night life.
“She has an image that is the face of Rio de Janeiro; she could represent it abroad like nobody else,†Mayor Cesar Maia said on the city’s official Web site.
On Tuesday, Campbell was sentenced to five days of community service for third-degree assault during a dispute over a pair of jeans. She got a $363 fine and was ordered to attend anger-management classes.
The supermodel had been charged with second-degree assault and faced up to seven years in prison and deportation.
Rio de Janeiro, one of the most violent cities in the world, has asked the government to send federal troops to stop the growing gang violence. On Wednesday, a former Miss Brazil had to undergo surgery on her hand after being attacked outside a Rio fashion show.
