The comments made eluding the image of Miley Cyrus as exuding sexuality are the uncanny talent of stating the obvious. Most mature people can see the hidden agenda in the photo as a state of post encounter, of the type that is not appropriate for any 15 year old girl, and is not good press for an icon of example for very young girls.
The artistic composition and balance of the photo is obvious and an excellent example of the highest standard of the photographic arts. The subject is the question. The contradiction is that the artist knew that the model would be controversial and possibly supersede the work in the artistic print itself. This is a conflict of interest, in that the photographic talent exists to produce the moment with any model of a less popular status and most certainly at least not a minor child.
Anne Leibovitz chose Miley Cyrus knowing the tide of controversy that would ensue. She is a professional and should not need to ride any wave of popularity of anyone other than the face value in the quality of her work. This to me is on the side of compromising her work and value structure of her craft for some strategic press.
I like Ms. Leibovitzs’ work very much and I like Ms, Cyrus’ work as well, the problem is simple it is all timing, opportunity, and presentation. This was the wrong time, an opportunity that can be misinterpreted, and an inappropriate presentation of a 15 year old girl.

To be honest the problem is not the photo – it is all the hype attached to it. I think it is a vey lovely photo of a very attractive young lady. Okay – not legally an adult but then there is nothing on show at all. As for the fact htat the photographer is lesbian – what on earth has that to do with anything? It is just yet another byline for the tabloids and so-called journalists to feed the frenzy. They are tasteful and artistic and nothing that anyone should apologise over. It is small minded individuals that fuel the problems we have and make mountains out of mole hills. She is a young lady on the verge of her journey into womanhood. It is hard enough at the best of times – she is playing it out in front of millions. Let her be.

If people didn’t know Miley Cyrus and saw this photo in a gallery or a show they would not complain. I can see that the photo is an artistic endeavour and is rather tasteful. She is completely covered apart from her back and IMHO would be showing a lot more if she went to the beach. Her guardians where at the shoot and didn’t object I think people need to have things to be shocked about but come on the photo’s of Vanessa Hudgens are a lot different to this.

I don’t find this photo slutty at all. I think it is tasteful and pretty. She’s 15 years old and I think most of us need to look at the normal 15 year old girl… not all that modest. So why should it be all that different for her? She is going through a normal phase. However, this shot does not indicate that because it is a Vanity Fair photoshoot. If you’re going to pose nude, Vanity Fair gives it some class. She’s not pulling a Vanessa Hudgens or anything.

I think its sad that people take an artistic shot and turn it around to be slutty.
its really sad,
she’s loosing tons of fans everyday and she doesn’t seem to care.

Does she really think the 6-14 year old
hannah montana fans want to she her bra,
or her kissing thomas or all of this

There is nothing artsy about that picture. I feel Miley was exploited and it’s ashame that the photographer would go so low and try to ruin Miley’s wholesome image. I can’t believe that her father would have allowed such a shot. It is really sad.
