Miley Cyrus Makes Fun of Asian People Eyes
Miley Cyrus is continuing to make headlines with her inappropriate behavior. This time Miley, her much older boyfriend, and a bunch of friends, mockingly made fun of Asian eyes despite the presence of an Asian acquaintance who was in the same room.
Miley is going to tell you that she isn’t making fun of Asian people, but George Wu who is the director of the OCA, an Asian American advocacy group, would like Miley, and other people like her to stop denigrating Asian people:
"Not only has Miley Cyrus and the other individuals in the photograph encouraged and legitimized the taunting and mocking of people of Asian descent, she has also insulted her many Asian Pacific American fans. The inclusion of an Asian Pacific American individual in the photo does not make it acceptable. OCA hopes that Miley Cyrus will apologize to her fans and the APA community for this lapse in judgment and takes the opportunity to better understand why the gesture is offensive."
Disney certainly knows how to pic their role models.

Seriously, you all need to lighten up. Look on Google, you can find thousands of pictures of people doing that gesture. All the sudden a celebrity that everyone loves to hate does it, and the world comes to a crashing end. It may have been a lapse in judgement for her, but seriously now, give the girl a break.

I also do not care whether or not that Asian in the picture knew about what was going on. He is equally lacking in intellect for taking part of this mindless behavior. Let’s change the scenario for a moment. Say Miley and friends wore skin make-up and fake lips to impersonate Black Americans. Do you think nobody would be outraged even if there were a Black person in the photo? Get real. This is offensive. It would still be offensive if everyone were Asian in the photo. Personally, I think we should ask the Asian kid in the picture what was going on, for his answers will most likely be the most accurate. Wouldn’t it be funny if this whole conflict occured, when the Asian kid wasn’t even offended at all?
Although, this image being a bit offensive, I think it is best to not be taken personally. As minorities, it’s quite easy for us to take offense at certain things in a very negative way, when the perpetraitor them self don’t even have that mindset to begin with.
I think this event will just remind Miley to be more careful in the future, but from what I see, it was supposed to be light hearted humor that weren’t meant for the purpose of bashing the Asian race. So I wouldn’t take this personally.
Also, this comment isn’t wrote on Miley’s side due to bias. I personally am not a Miley fan what’s over, just wish to write so my Asian brothers and sisters to not get hurt from this and take it personally.

Even if it is for fun, miley should have thought that she is a celebrity, everything she does will be overlooked by some people. Everyone is entitled for their own opinions. Doing such things, some people may take it in a bad way like what just happened.

anyway.. even if asians stay in asia.. they will still see such pictures.. internet is available. But asking asian to stay in asia is just impossible, in a way that americans should stay in their own places. It won’t happen, people study in different countries, work or even travel.
There are a lot of americans in asia and vice versa. What your saying is unrealistic, there are AMBASSADORS for each country in every other country for pete’s sake!

We are all human beings first and foremost and your insensitivity to people and mankind demonsrates a lack of moral judgement and lack of sensitivity. Trace your decendants in your family tree and you will find that somewhere along the way YOU came from somewhere else. Unless you were a native American then we are all immigrants to this fine country at one time or another. I’m half white and half Chinese and I do feel that what miley and her friends did was out of pure fun. Even I have been guilty of that, but the manner in which you said your comments demonstrates a need to mature and accept all human beings for who they are. If we applied your logic, then Caucasians would need to go back to their originating country as well, since America was populated by Native American Indians before anyone else arrived. We are all sharing this great land thanks to the Indians, and they decided to allow us all to have a place here, no matter what our race.
