Michael Vick Tried and Convicted on SNL, but Charges of Pot Possession Dropped

NFL star Michael Vick will not face criminal charges in connection with last week’s seizure of a customized water bottle after police lab tests turned up negative for the presence of drugs in the container. After the Aquafina water bottle was surrendered by the Atlanta Falcons quarterback to screeners at Miami International Airport, a secret compartment was discovered in the 20-ounce bottle, according to a Miami-Dade Police Department report. The concealed portion of the container, investigators noted last Wednesday, contained "a small amount of dark particulate and a pungent aroma closely associated with Marijuana."
However, upon further laboratory review, no evidence of drugs was detected in Vick’s suspicious water bottle, according to a memo from prosecutor Deisy Rodriguez. As a result of the lab results, the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office declined to file charges against the 26-year-old athlete, who can now presumably retrieve his drug-free Aquafina bottle from police.
On Saturday Seth Meyer and Amy Poehler did a segment on SNL called Really!?! The segment was based on the assumption that Michael Vick was arrested for trying to carry marijuana onto an airplane. So much for the presumption of innocence. This truly highlights human nature which cause a person to assume the person arrested is actually guilty of the crime they are accused of, because as a person might say, "they had to have done something, otherwise, why would they arrest him." While it is possible that Vick might smoke pot, and it is suspicious that his water bottle had a hidden compartment, on this day he was guilty of nothing, and innocent of everything. SNL owes Michael Vick an apology.
