Comment posted Meredith Vieira Asks Al Sharpton about Racial Double Standard by stef.
Callie, I wish your posted was written in the sky for all the world to see. I’m so fed up with all this crying and whining about WORDS, I can’t even see straight! And giving in to this crap will be the demise of society. As the willow bends, the oak becomes more rigid. This is the kind of pretzel logic that MAKES people develop racist thoughts, that would never have otherwise surfaced.

If every celebrity was fired for saying something ignorant or racist (white OR black, or anyone in between), we’d have no one left to watch, listen to, read about, or be entertained by. We’d have no use for movies, television, magazines, or even newspapers. And if we’re ALL going to be judged by ONE mistake, obliterating all previous accomplishments, LOOK OUT, cause we’re all in big trouble! How DARE people overreact to words, when there’s so much real pain out there. Pathetic.. - Brad to Angie: Why dont you love Shiloh?
I believe it. It’s appalling, but I believe it. What sort of person wouldn’t feel AT LEAST the same for a child created with the person they supposedly love? It all sounds kind of condescending to me. The adoptees are now in the SAME PRIVILEGED family as Shilo. To keep on pretending that they’re not as lucky is ridiculous. In trying to make sure an adopted child great life,a parent isn’t supposed to remind him and everyone else how underprivileged he WAS!

This is a sad day in America history. With all the issues at hand in our country, community leaders seem to think the opinion of one man has such impact? Even if you consider the “responsibility” of being a good example to his listeners (who all do have a brain of their own I would assume?) he still is entitled to his own opinion. Crude as it may be, Imus has the right, just like those crap-rappers, to speak his mind.
I’m far more offended by people like Sharpton and Jackson for giving what that man says merit. They’re jumping into the spotlight claiming everything under the sun but it seems like a shallow attempt to further their own careers. They’re using the very people they pretend to protect as a media circus act to get attention.
Act like a victim and you’ll be one. Let someone convince you you’re a victim and you’re an idiot.
I agree with Meridith completely. This needs to be addressed by all with the same hostility. I’ve really noticed a real disrespect for women in general not any certain race. This is not just in the black community by black males. I have noticed this in black white, Jewish, Muslim, Latin and Asian communities. I am sure I am leaving a lot of races/religions out but not on purpose. There still needs to be a lot of education re: this subject but this must be looked at from all sides with the same consequences.
Is free speech only for hostile black leaders now?
When is Al Sharpton going to apologize to the Duke players? I cannot believe the media is not hounding Sharpton to apologize to these guys.
Yet Imus gets fired for saying the same words the rap artists say on the airwaves.
AMEN!!!!!!!!
