Mel Gibson Wife Files for Divorce

Robyn Gibson (53), formerly Robyn Moore, has filed for divorce from Mel Gibson (53). The estranged couple have been married for 28 years. Through their publicist, Alan Nierob, they released this statement:

"Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do so."

Robyn’s attorney Laura Wasser filed the divorce paperwork this morning in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The paperwork lists the reason as "irreconcilable differences," and lists the date of separation as "to be determined," which means she might want to post the date later when more of Mel’s earnings hit the bank account. The estranged couple have been separated for more than 2.5 years, and they do not have a prenuptial agreement.

Robyn was a former dental hygenist when the couple met and married June 7, 1980 with no wealth of her own. The couple have seven children, Hannah (28), twins Edward and Christian (26), William (24), Louis (21), Milo (19), and Thomas (9).

Robyn has asked the coufrt for joint physical and legal custody of Thomas, who turns 10 years-old tomorrow, and both spousal support and attorney’s fees.

Gibson’s net worth has been estimated to be more than $900 million.

It’s sad to see couples who have been through so much together split.
