Mariana Bridi da Costa Has Died

Mariana Bridi da Costa (20) has died from a Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacterial infection. Mariana was a finalist to represent Brazil in the Miss World contest.

Mariana’s bacterial infection started as a simple urinary tract infection. Doctors misdiagnosed it as kidney stones, but by that time the bacteria has infected
Mariana’s kidney’s, and spread into her blood causing speticemia. From there the bacteria infected her hands and feet, which the doctors then amputated, but her limb infections were only a late sign that the bacteria had infected far more.

Today Mariana died.

This was a horrible, and unnecessary loss. The doctor who made this mistake needs to have his medical license taken away at a minimum.
