Marcia Cross on Bed Rest

Desperate Housewives actress Marcia Cross, who is expecting twins in April with her stockbroker hubby, Tom Mahoney, has been put on bed rest by her doctor, her spokeswoman informed the Associated Press on Wednesday.

"This is a precautionary measure only," publicist Heidi Slan said in an e-mail to the AP.

Producers of the hit ABC series on which Cross, 44, plays uptight Bree Van De Kamp, have decided to move production at the end of this week to the actress’ Los Angeles home for two days, according to TV Guide.

The show’s producers did not write Cross’ pregnancy into the show’s plot, and the actress was scheduled to film only two more shows after the Feb. 11 episode since it was becoming too difficult to hide her pregnancy.

Cross and Mahoney married in June 2006 after a two-year courtship.

Cross isn’t the first famous actress ordered to bed. In 2004, Julia Roberts spent the last several weeks of her pregnancy on bed rest before giving birth to twins Phinnaeus Walter and Hazel Patricia, now 2.
