Madonna Adoption Delayed

Madonna’s adoption of David has been delayed until next week after a Malawian human rights group presented arguments on "shortcomings" in the southern African nation’s adoption laws. Most likely because they suspect money changed hands. David’s father spoke in support of Madonna.

David has been part of Madonna’s family since 2006. Chief Social Welfare Officer Simon Chisale, the official overseeing the adoption, paid the Ritchies two home visits, writing in a report that Madonna was a "perfect mum" for David.

A high profile adoption like this is easily used to focus attention on areas that need improvement. Once all that is cleared away, David will have a new permanent home.
