Lydia Sum Has Died

Lydia Sum, one of Hong Kong showbiz’s most colorful and popular personalities, died today at 8.38 AM, Hong Kong time. She was 60 years old.
The veteran entertainer passed away in Queen Mary hospital after a protracted fight with liver cancer. She had been undergoing medical treatment since being diagnosed with the disease more than a year ago. She was admitted to intensive care a few weeks ago after her condition worsened.
Many in Hong Kong are paying tribute to the star affectionately nicknamed "Fei Fei") for her plump physique.
The city’s chief executive Donald Tsang said: "I am sad about her death. Fei Fei was Hong Kong’s ’happy fruit’. The sound of her laughter was part of growing up in Hong Kong and brought us a lot of joy."
Shanghai-born Lydia took up acting as a child in the early 60s, and her bubbly sense of humour quickly made her popular.
She went on to star in more than 70 movies.
She hosted numerous TVB variety shows, most notably Enjoy Yourself Tonight, which made her a household name.
Lydia is survived by her daughter Joyce Cheng, and ex-husband Adam Cheng.
