Kate Gosselin Filed for Divorce
Kate Gosselin filed for divorce from Jon Gosselin on Monday afternoon in Pennsylvania. Kate released this statement:
"Over the course of this weekend, Jon’s activities have left me no choice but to file legal procedures in order to protect myself and our children," Kate said in a statement Monday night. "While there are reasons why it was appropriate and necessary for me to initiate this proceeding, I do not wish to discuss those reasons at this time, in the hope that all issues will be resolved amicably between Jon and myself. As always, my first priority remains our children."
We assume the activities Kate is referring to was Jon finding and paying for an apartment in Manhattan, so he has someplace to live. Kate probably didn’t want a penny of the couple’s money to be spent on Jon. He was smart enough to do what he needed to do, when he needed to do it.
Jon released a statement of his own, claiming his wife was the first to make a legal move:
"This afternoon, Kate filed for divorce. Our kids are still my number one priority. I love them and want to make sure they stay happy, healthy and safe. My job is being the best, most supportive and loving father that I can be to my kids, and not being married to Kate doesn’t change that."
"This will be a difficult transition for all of us, but Kate and I will work out a schedule that enables our kids to have plenty of quality time with both of us at home in Pennsylvania. In terms of my marriage, it’s no secret that the past six months or so have been very difficult for Kate and me. We are no different than other couples and parents who are facing a crossroads in their marriage. I am of course deeply saddened that we are divorcing."
It looks like couple therapy isn’t going to be an option. The couple’s show has also been put on hold, and there is no word if the show will continue.
The divorce papers have been sealed.
If we had to choose someone to blame, we’d blame Kate for being so mean, cold, and emotionally unavailable to both Jon and the kids. We believe Kate loves fame and fortune more than her family.

It was not Kate or Jon. It was both of them. That’s what a marriage is: two people. No matter what happens marriage is supposed to mean a lifetime commitment. Unless your spouse is abusive, an addict, or habitually unfaithful you stick in there…for better or worse. The problem is most people get to the worse part and they bail. The biggest negative impact is on the children. The right thing to do is usually the hard thing to do. Sadly, many take the easy way out.
Did we watch the same show on Monday night? *boggle* How could ANYONE watch that and still be blaming Kate? Jon is a LOSER. He made it very obvious he’s going through some sort of pathetic early mid-life crisis. LOVED the lame new earrings on him. He got a sweet new bachelor pad in Trump Towers AND bought a sports car (no room for baby seats??). He left his kids, cheated on his wife and is now being seen around town (NYC actually, what a shock) with the 23 year old daughter of Kate’s plastic surgeon. Usually I think you’re right on the money, but I have to say I think your sympathy for father’s losing their rights during divorces (which normally I agree with you on) is seriously clouding your judgment in this case. This is JON’s doing … not Kate’s.
Who protects the kids from Kate?
I feel so sorry for the children in this family. Kate did a great job using the media to ensue the divorce, she should know the cameras are always on while ridiculing John w/o seeking marital counciling. Kate needs a reality check before her 15 minutes of fame is up.
