Joe Paterno has Lung Cancer

Joe Paterno (84) was diagnosed with lung cancer, according to his son who made this announcement:
“Last weekend my father was diagnosed with a treatable form of lung cancer during a follow-up visit for a bronchial illness. He is currently undergoing treatment and his doctors are optimistic that he will make a full recovery.”
“As everyone can appreciate, this is a deeply personal matter for my parents, and we simply ask that his privacy be respected as he proceeds with treatment.”
This all seems very convenient. Back in July Paterno sold his house to his wife for $1, which is about 4 months before the accusations became public regarding Jerry Sandusky mishandling little boys in the locker room at Penn State University. If Paterno had transferred the house after a lung cancer diagnoses it would have looked better, but instead it looks like Paterno protected a criminal and transferred his assets to protect himself against liability in any civil lawsuits. Unfortunately, since Joe testified before the grand jury in 2010, this move could actually make him look even worse if he gets sued.
It is difficult to blame Joe depsite the horrific accusations against Jerry Sandusky. Joe notified the head of the university about the accusations against Sandusky as was the policy, but did not notify the police because he knew if that would create a big scandal, and the bad plublicity would get him fired, even though he had done nothing wrong himself, so he reported it to someone he knew would not saying report it to police. Paterno’s whole life was coaching, then something like this happens that could ruin his life’s work. It’s not hard to understand why Paterno didn’t want to throw his whole life’s work away. The guy who really deserves the criticsm is Mike McQueary who claims he caught Sandusky in a criminal act with little boy, and made sure to stop it, but did not call police, and instead reported it to Paterno. McQueary knew Paterno would be put in such a spot he’d have to choose between his career or living with his conscience. McQueary had a responsibility, but passed the buck.
Has anyone asked Sandusky if he’s gay yet? No one wants to ask because if he’s gay it makes it more possible that he likes little boys, and that would make the gays mad. I haven’t heard Sandusky point out he’s heterosexual as part of his defense, just like Michael Jackson never said he likes only women.
South Park wasted no time in making Penn State University look exactly the way they acted.
