Jim Leyritz Arrested for DUI and Vehicular Homicide

Jim Leyritz, a member of the New York Yankees championship teams in the 1990s, is being held at Broward County Jail in Florida, after being arrested for allegedly driving under the influence and causing the death of a woman driving the other car in a collision.

Local10.com of WPLG-TV reports that, according to police, Leyritz was driving a Ford SUV that crashed into another vehicle in downtown Fort Lauderdale early this morning. The other car rolled, and the female driver was ejected and later died.

Leyritz was booked at 4:30 AM and is being held on $11,000 bond. He turned 44 years-old yesterday.

Judges should know better than to give celebrities only a slap on the wrist for multiple DUI. It only takes one DUI to cause the death of an innocent person. Don’t drink and drive. Better yet, don’t drink.
