miley cyrus ratings sink Hannah Montana Sinks in the Ratings

Ever since Miley Cyrus posed in a sexually suggestive manner for Vanity Fair, Hannah Montana’s rating have dropped like a rock.

The audience for Sunday’s new episode of the Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana fell 14% from the previous new episode, which aired just under two months earlier, according to the Nielsen Company.

Compared to the first original show of the year, which aired in January, viewership for Sunday’s show was down 26%.

Bob Iger, Disney’s president and chief executive officer, responded to the bad news by saying:

"With a new season of shows coming up, a new record in July and a theatrical film next year, the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus franchise is incredibly robust."

Hannah Montana still sells well enough, but Disney is now grooming Selena Gomez, star of Wizards of Waverly Place, to take over as the new tween queen. Wizards of Waverly Place is now the top show for the Disney.

The bottom line, parents care about what their kids watch, and who they watch. Miley needs to start lining up some more adult roles to go along with her adult behavior.
