Pregnancy is 40 weeks, beginning from the first day of your last period. Conception doesn’t occur until you ovulate two weeks after your period. So the baby itself is actually only 38 weeks “old” if you were to deliver on your due date, hence the misconception that pregnancy is 9 months (or actually 9 1/2 months).

A pregnancy is 10 months. You deliver at the end of the ninth month. After about 40 weeks.

Spoken like a person who has never experienced it! Cindi’s right — it’s 10 months, sometimes longer if you deliver late.
