Gina Gershon Demands Retraction from Vanity Fair

Gina Gershon hired law firm Lavely & Singer to send a demand letter to Vanity Fair asking for a retraction. The letter says in part:
"… The article outrageously insinuates that Ms. Gershon has had an inappropriate sexual relationship with President Clinton. This is absolutely false."
The letter demands "a retraction and correction."
"Gershon has only been in the same room as President Bill Clinton on three occasions, all with many others present."
The letter goes on to say:
"Rumor-mongering was substituted for fact-checking."
Todd Purdum defended his reporting, and says he was very careful not to make any direct allegations. Too bad he didn’t name his sources.

I thought Vanity Fair was above all this “let’s hint and insinuate and imply but don’t make any direct accusations that could get us sued” garbage. Turns out they’re no better than the National Enquirer.
