Last week the new James Bond film Quantum of Solace had filming production suspended after two serious accidents occurred in Italy involving two stunt men, pictured above, one of which had serious head injuries, and is fighting for his life in a hospital.

Today SEVEN people were injured in a collision between a bus and several cars during the filming of G.I. Joe in the center of Prauge. It appeared an all-wheel-drive vehicle hit the bus after having brake problems.

In April 2002, a stunt man from the United States was killed in Prague during the filming of the Rob Cohen action film Triple X.

Only minor injuries were reported in the G.I. Joe accident.

There needs to be better coordination on the set, and even better stunt planning and choreography. Being in the movies can be dangerous.

A pic of the G.I. Joe bus accident is below.

Accidents can happen any where on set despite all efforts to keep things safe. We pay to see action movies and the coordinators are paid to give us that. They are HIGHLY trained and skilled at what they do. On the set of G.I. Joe they have several GREAT COORDINATORS there taking care to of the safety of every one on set cast and crew.

  2. Hey there to the 1st comment!!These unbelievably selfless individuals ARE RISKING THIER OWN LIVES SO YOURS STAYS HERE ON EARTH!!Do you understand now, just how important stuntmen and stuntwomen are in the buisness of show buisness! These people who are only doing what thier job specifications tell them to do,and then they get paid just like anyone else who does, thier jobs!Thats the way they see it,in thier minds, and some of us think its the kindest jesture,to have someone who realy wants to be like you,and they will protect you, life or death!.Thank God for Stuntpersons..

Accidents can occur at any moment in stunt work despite all the best planning. One oil spot on the pavement is all it takes for one vehicle to glance off another causing a chain reaction of events. There is no way around it unless you remain perfectly still – and that wouldn’t make for a successful film. Thus, nothing for you to gossip about and nothing for actors and directors to pretend they did all on their own.

I tip my hat to the stuntmen and stuntwomen who make films for us and take those unavoidable risks.
