Family Guy in Trouble with the PTC

  Share

The Parents Television Council has asked its 1.3 million members to file FCC complaints against Family Guy for indecent material on Fox, including a clip of the March 8th episode above. The group issued a statement saying:

"Fox treated viewers to everything from an ‘eleven-way’ gay orgy to baby Stewie eating a bowl of cereal with horse sperm instead of milk … if that isn’t enough, the show’s leading character is also shown fantasizing about his wife and moaning while a horse licks his bare behind. Clearly, the explicit content was not isolated to one instance in one segment of the show; it permeated the entire program."

After the PTC complained about Family Guy last year, creator Seth McFarlane issued the following statement:

"Oh, yeah. That’s like getting hate mail from Hitler. They’re literally terrible human beings. I’ve read their newsletter, I’ve visited their website, and they’re just rotten to the core. For an organization that prides itself on Christian values – I mean, I’m an atheist, so what do I know? – they spend their entire day hating people. They can all suck my d**k as far as I’m concerned."

Real mature.

It all comes down to being a good parent, and not letting the television baby sit the kids. If the show is something you don’t want your kids to watch turn the channel, or use the government mandated V-Chip to block the show.

If the show was really so bad, wouldn’t advertisers send them a message by pulling their accounts?

I assure you, at 9 pm on a Sunday my children are in bed. I do not use the TV to babysit my children, for the most part my TV stays on the Disney channel. I understand why people are upset about this show. Everything nowadays is about sex. Many commercials now are using the sex seels idea. There is a new commercial for Quiznos where the oven is talking to a clerk and says how he got burned on their last encounter. The oven says, you know we both enjoyed it. Then tels him to stick his torpedo “in me.” The point is, this along with the condom commercials and KY yours and mine commercials are too much. Aparantly the creator of this show is a self proclaimed atheist. I understand that there is a big “Family Guy” following. Mr. McFarlane is misguided, comparing Christians with Hitler is the epitome of ignorance. Just as atheists push against all things about God, we push for our Lord. I don’t believe in censorship, however I don’t think our founding fathers had homosexual acts between cartoons and a baby eating sperm in mind when they wrote the freedom of speech into the Bill of Rights of the Constitution of the United States of America. People have different views about many things, and nothing will make everyone happy. Shows like this are meant for late night on cable channels. Even Cinemax does not show their plotless movies until late night. Material like this in not appropriate for over the air broadcasting. I can’t even listen to a country music radio station anymore, for 15 minutes, without hearing profanity. I do my best to ensure my children are not exposed to those words. That is my job as a parent. Apparantly, some people view people with high moral values as evil, or compare us with Adolf Hitler, (an atheist) but we are just people that are tired of watching our country and communities crumble because we let things just happen without voicing our opinions. Everyone has an equal right to make an opinion about these subjects. Just because we fight for what we believe in, that makes us racists and bigots, and we are compared with the Nazi extermination of the peaceful Jewish people. I am not sure why people get so angry, I am just very disappointed in the direction in which our country is heading. Family Guy is just the current event.

I thought it was a good idea when they gave Peter the rant scene cause it’s so true! Hey, if you want good wholesome and kid friendly try Disney or Nickelodeon…oh wait, the stars on those shows aren’t exactly kid friendly in “real life” are they?? Seriously, my twins watch Family Guy, American Dad, The Boondocks…they take away some crazy stuff from those shows, but to be fair they bring even worse stuff home from school!

Yeah, parents should just watch their kids or put limits on the TV. They can either block shows that have a rating they don’t want their kids to watch, or I’m sure just block certain shows now-a-day, I wouldn’t know, I don’t have kids, but if I did, I’d monitor what they watch and block certain shows. I’d probably even put a one-two hour viewing lock per day on the television so they didn’t spend six hours watching TV anyway. I’m probably one of Family Guy’s biggest fans, and I know enough that it’s not a show for children. Some episodes are fine, and since I own all the DVDs I can pick and choose what episodes to let kids watch, as some are perfectly fine, but I’d never let them watch it unless I’ve seen it first…

Whoever said Family Guy was “kid friendly” anyway?

The problem isn’t with television … it’s with the self-absorbed parents that use television to pacify their children in lieu of spending quality time with them.

If you don’t like the show, don’t watch. Better yet, take your kid outside and spend real time with them.

  5. James says:

Ummmmm, there’s a clip of Family Guy where Peter looks directly at the audience and goes on a little rant about parents taking responsibility for their kids and monitoring what they watch. These people (PTC) are idiots and yes, most of them are “terrible human beings”. THE RATING IS THERE FOR A REASON!

  6. mike says:

Well as a parent of 2 and a fan of family guy. I have to say that I am so sick of LAZY PARENTS who are to self involved to parent there kids. Maybe if they were more concerned with why there kids are up watching tv at 9pm on a Sunday instead of in bed.

  7. inge says:

Peter merely said he was breeding hores and therefore not all milk in the fridge was milk. What’s the uproar all about. Don’t watch the show if it offends you!!!
