Family Guy Abortion Episode

Family Guy is courting controversy again, in an effort to make people notice them, and laugh at less unfortunate people, especially those in the midst of a moral dilema, like aborting a baby.

When asked about the show, that Fox refused to air, but will be included on the DVD season package, creator Seth MacFarlane said:

"If God wanted us to kill babies he would have made them all Chinese girls."

Huh? I don’t get it. That just sounds like a mean racist sexist statement that lacks humor. Hey Seth here’s a twist on your logic:

"If God wanted us to kill babies, he would have named them all Seth MacFarlane."

I guess that’s not funny either. Oh well, I could still quality to write for Family Guy.

It seems MacFarlane still has a lot of rope to go before he does something so controversial he hangs himself. I do enjoy Family Guy, although MacFarlane offends me, like a hamburger smothered in chili beans with a birthday candle on top.

  1. Chinese Baby says:

Back in the day, I thought China used to only allow 1 Daughter per family…they wanted sons so they could work/join the military…so they killed the baby if it was a girl

  2. neongas says:

Cultural enlightenment: China’s one-child policy coupled with Chinese families’ preference for male heirs meant that firstborn girls are usually abandoned or worse, killed.

So his joke does make sense, if only in bad taste.

i think you cant blame a show for a few distasteful jokes/episodes when its what the fans enjoy (maybe not ALL of them). some people are serious and some people are jokers. seths a joker, its his job and his hobby. i dont like Picasso and i dont like abortion jokes but im not going to deprive someone else of their chance to enjoy either. no ones getting hurt, and if you are just change the channel

    • jackspade,

You are right of course, changing the channel always solves the problem, as does turning off the TV. There are a lot of offensive things in the world that can be useful if given a chance. Like farts. I don’t like to smell farts, especially dog farts, but they do contain methane, which could be captured and stored to help solve our energy crisis. So I guess my point is, farts may stink, and they could help solve our energy crisis, but I don’t want to be anywhere near them until after they are gone. Just an FYI, the whole fart thing didn’t really have anything to do with Family Guy, unless you think the show stinks, which I don’t.
