Sam, I am sure his speech was done by a PR person and there is no way you can prove or force the issue that he did intend to distribute or show those pictures. Much as though I know he is stupid he is not stupid enough to ruin his own career. It is most likely true that it was never meant to be shown to the public so in many aspects his speech and apology is quite accurate or at least cannot be proven or claimed to be inaccurate. As for Hollywood I am sure he will not be able to cause even a ripple there unless he intends to be a B grade adult movie star for the asian market. Even then he will hardly be a household name. So you do not really have to worry abt Hollywood for him.

crazo, no one can ever come to a conclusion on who is right or wrong or who are the “real victims”. But I am sure most people would agree that being famous celebs surrounded with the best PR agencies and managers to watch or help watch over their careers that they would be smarter (eg use a freaking external) or better in their decision making PERIOD.
Using love as an excuse is the stupidest thing ever. True love does not require you to do something you do not want to do. If your boyfriend said “to prove your love to me please disown your parents or religion or beliefs” is it really love? No its a selfish statement. Grow up. In any competitive industry if you do not grow up or wise up, you get left behind. Why shouldnt celebs be treaten any fairly just like any human would? I’d like to say how surprised I am with people coming in here with their “beliefs, ideologies or coc-a-doodle-doo stories”. I mean when you want to talk about right and wrong it will never end regardless of how you debate it. Some jokers like Andy might think its ok to walk around n@ked in the name of freedom of expression in “modern century” (his horrible broken English). Some rocket scientist like Jennifer will think its the fault of no one but the evil powers to be “triad and govt” associations (perhaps even MIB?) that are behind all this. At the end of the day, no one is going to be able to prove anyone right or wrong.But facts remain facts. Parties involved here were stupid. They did it on their own free will, were not mature nor clever enough to make proper decisions that should not trouble them at the age of 20years and above. Bad decision making process plus low IQ led to this episode. Nothing more nothing less. So andy, before “you is think my brain has to grow but no you and be at this century instead of i may back to ancient times” you might want to put those sentences through Microsoft Word. I think you will find lots of green lines or red lines highlighting grammar and spelling errors. Please refrain from using your weakness (I assume English is not your main language but neither is it mine) to try to be “smart” or “suggest” to other parties to “grow some brains”. Thank you

I just watched the apology and I thought it was pretty lame. For 95% of it, he didn’t seem sincere and sound and look like he’s just reading a script. However, it’s sad that he and Gillian has to apologize or explain in the first place because they didn’t do anything wrong. Edison is as much a victim as the female stars involved. They might be accountable for their public behaviours, (because of they are celebrities) but they are definitely not accountable for their (legal) private behaviours to anyone. Is having s@x with your girlfiends or dates a crime? So he happens to be popular with girls, is that a crime? So he likes to keep pictures of their s@x lives, is that wrong? We have to understand that just because so many girls sleep with him doesn’t make him a bad person. The girls themselves were not forced to sleep with him. Even if Edison is the playboy type who date so many girls, perhaps at the same time, is that really our business? Besides, who is to say that the girls themselves are not also dating more than one person, or I’m sure most of them have had their fair share of boyfriends, no less than Edison.
Remember, Their privacy got invaded because someone stole these pictures and uploaded them for the world to see, and suddenly it became everybody’s business. Let’s not forget that we’re looking at stolen pictures.
In any case, it’s their misfortune that their private lives got stolen and uploaded. Those who stole and uploaded them are ultimately the ones to blame, and the only ones to blame. The power of the media and general human curiousity didn’t help of course. Most of the HK citizens who are complaining are also responsible for driving what has been a non-stop one month front page media coverage of all of this which is making the whole thing worse than it really is every single day.
May be he’s really sorry about this scandal.

okay… so some of you people actually think he was sincerely sorry? i’ve never really liked edison anyway, so i couldnt care less about this stuff. im (in a way) doubting his apologies, although i do agree with some of you that he didnt do anything wrong, that is of course you seem to think that taking pictures during s@x is wrong. as for what he did with the laptop… does that guy have brains? maybe he couldve thought about the pics being uploaded onto the internet before giving his laptop to the IT workers?? wow… how retarded (no offense).
i do think he deserves a second chance, because all people make mistakes, no matter how serious the problem is. he didnt kill, he didnt take life; all he did was take pictures and unintentionally got them onto the internet. its not his fault. even if i dont like him, i think he should be forgiven by society.

I feel sorry for Edison. He shouldn’t apologize to anybody. What happened in his bedroom seem to be consensual between the ladies and him. It’s just too bad it got circulated all over the internet. There’s nothing wrong with what they did in those pictures…
well as far as i know, even if you delete all you pictures into the recycle bin, or even formatted ur hard disk b4 you sent it to repair, there are softwares that can be used to recover all these details.
For eg. if you delete pics using recycle bin, it is just like deleting away the page number of a book. the content is still intact in somewhere inside you harddisk. Likewise for reformatting. I can tell you that i can buy 2nd hard disk from ebay or anywhere and recover important document or passwords from the previous owner.
The only way to solve is to use a hammer and destroy you harddisk. I am not joking. You can make some researches on what i have said.
I think Edison just wants to show off his ‘conquests’ to the world. After all, would you or me send a laptop for repair knowing very well that it contains private n^de pics ? What’s more being a so-called celebrity, the repair men will snoop even harder for pics in his laptop. He is just a young punk who can’t think, and has low intelligence in managing his life matters as far as sending laptop for repair. He could have asked someone trusted to do it, or at least be there while the repair is being done. Dont understand how he became famous & so sought after by the commercials in the first place. hey xso any kid who knows about computers knows that backup is important. So if Edison wants to ’save’ the pics for his own viewing pleasure, he would have done a backup and deleted the ones on his laptop before he sends for repair. Shows that good looks don’t normally come with brains. Such an idiot and a loser, anyway he be better off in hollywood making b-grade flicks
I agree that he didn’t do anything wrong, other than not protecting his private collections. I guess some of these women felt cheated on, because at the times that he took those pictures, he was dating and filming multiple women, and they all thought that they were his only one.
hi tech… thumb drives and hard disks are as risky too… u can drop a thumb drive or have to repair ur hard disk , isnt it the same.
I just happened to be visiting Hong Kong the past few weeks, when this scandal broke out. Anyone who hasn’t seen the pics were considered “out.” I think Edison’s apology statement came too late, if he had came out sooner, things wouldn’t have turned out as bad.
I never liked Edison in the first place. I think his statement above is hypocritic. He has been planning to come out of the HK entertainment industry for a long while, he has made two Hollywood movies already as second or third class actor, before the scadal. After the scandal, when he was “seeking his soul” in the U.S. he was actually meeting with more Hollywood moviemakers. I guess it’s not such a big deal in a more open-minded market as the U.S. And, people tend to be forgetful.
He never cared about the HK entertaiment industry anyway, as he hasn’t produced much in the last couple years anyway, after he started his own clothing company and recently became one of the youngest CEO.

And this IT guy, was he, his own personal IT fixer or what>? or just a quack fixer? come on, lets face it, boy!!! Take a look at yourself before judging others – you have probably done things that you don’t want other people knowing too, so give them a break!

It’s totally scripted. “heal myself and to search my soul”? Such an uncommon way to express one’s true guilt and apology. Frankly, how sorry could he be if he didn’t even say “I’m Sorry” in Cantonese during this one and only one press conference??? No pity to Edison and other victims except for their family and loved ones. Edison and others chose to have these pictures taken, so they should take full responsibility regardless of what happens.
I hate him because he has destroyed career of many pretty girls and he has probably changed their livies for ever. I thank him for now I can take out those pictures and see pretty girls I like, right down to the very bottom not just in my dreams, but in my hands. So eventhought he is such a SOB, he has done something for me.
Edison was also a victim of this scandal. First of all I believe those pictures that were taken by him, is with consent of his female partners. as he have said, those (photos) were for his personal consumption and was not intended for distribution. Taking picture of your partner in intimate poses are fine as long as privacy is maintained. Sadly in his case, his private collection got exposed to the public.
