   Oh, come on, he was too stress to being look sincere in his apology. I say, he’s sincere enough. Well, i think he will be better off in the Hollywood since he got the cute face and quite a talent as well. Afterall, the citizens of Hong Kong are not so forgivable in his actions.    i agree with cross_devil. From the momment the photos were published, it occured to me that it was just another scandal. Looking at past precendents such as paris, cameron diaz, they are still doing well in the entertainment industry. Those photos taken, were indecent (in the view of asian society). However, he should not be sorry. These photos were take in privacy and both parties (edison and the various actresses) were all willing parties. The press and media and those who stole the photos from him should be sorry to the society for spreading such indecent images to the public which includes the young. Matured adults like us, will most probably treat it as another form of entertainment. In essence, I am still a edison supporter, I do not feel that he has any wrong in this incident! All the best for hollywood, I look forward to more of your acts!

   To my way of thinking, sincere or not sincere is not important now. Move on with your life and don rush into things. To me, he is sincere enough, I mean we can’t expect him to look so DRAGFUL and sad and miserable, he is still a GUY, he still a celebrity with his own fanz, and he is still fr a america style background. But I think stepping out of the entertainment industry and doing community work isnt enough to buy back the faith of the Hong Kong people.     Edison is courage enough to face the public apology. Wheteher it is from his bottom of his heart, nobody know. Time will tell…
    I believe he has the ulterior motive behind this situation and jump over to HOLLYWOOD industry in the West. His damages to the HK entertainment is beyond repair and he should be resposible not just leaving the industry.
    We will see how he will grow again in the west. Surely, it is a lesson for all the girls “Don’t Judge The Book By It’s Cover” as in this case a “HANDSOME” and “NICE” guy!!! Of course “Inside” Beauty is still better than “Outside” Looks.

    He appears to be sincere but the apology lacks substance but is also calculated. The English news sources believe that he is quitting for good. Yet, he is only stepping away from HK show business for a while without a scheduled return date. Notice that he did not preclude working in other places, ie. Hollywood. He’s leaving room for maneuver. This move should bring some sympathy votes back to him since people may believe that he is overwhelmed by guilt.

    Also, the only ones he should apologize to are his ladies yet somehow the broader HK community demands an apology from him. Perhaps, he is faulted for damaging the perception of a pristine, virginal world of which all must be a part of and hold to be true? More problematic is the very vulgar attachment to his taking those pictures and having s@x. What he did in private is part of everyday reality. Why be such prude? After all, he’s a victim in this.

    Hmmm. His first language is Cantonese. All parties involved speak Cantonese. Most people in Hong Kong only speak Cantonese. Yet he says sorry in English (and quite complex legal phrasing making it difficult even for most of best speakers of English in HK.)

    So who was he really talking to? Hong Kong? Or Hollywood and the rest of the world aqnd his future fans?

    It could be a brillian career move. He is now well and truly in the world’s public eye. He can go to Hollywood with a much higher profile and have a better chance to ‘make it’ here.

    And when it all calms down. He might even be able to get some work back home in Honkers. After all, he’s seen Jackie Chan flee Hk in disgrace only to return again as a hero.

    “my lawyers will protect all involved.” Ha! It’s a bit too late now! Careers ruined. famillies shamed. Marriages broken, including his. But he could have decided the fame was more important than his relationship.

    Surely he’s not so stupid as to give his computer with all those pics to strangers who are best equipped to copy them.

    Well i think he is sincere, after what happened, those female celebrities what they meant to him, how close they are, they were involve with each other once and maybe they are friends now who knows, i guess intimate pictures of the one you know, liked or loved out in the wild, you will feel bad about it. In addition to his own personal pictures.

    And also the Hong Kong triad leader has put a bounty on him and will pay whoever that will bring his hand to him, some veteran celebrity were worried about this and ask him not to return to Hong Kong for now.

    There are times in human history that damage and hurt are too far-reaching and too deep that a few mere words of remorse can possibly address, this is one of them. Through his lack of caution, his lack of good judgement and his lack of decency, he has singlehandedly destroyed not just the reputation, the lives, the trust and the respect of those ladies involved, but also smeared the whole Hong Kong society as part of the collateral damage. This damage will no doubt last for many years to come. Incredibly one man (combined with modern technology) could cause so much damage in such a short time and there was nothing any decent citizens could do to arrest this monumental mistake. A huge lesson to learn for all of us. Can you imagine if this is a nuclear bomb, and his finger is on the button?

    I’m sure his apology is sincere, even though he spoke like a robot. It would have been more heartfelt if he said it in chinese. I’m sure he must have been very stress and tired. He must have been relieved after he made his apology. I think he made a wise decision to leave the HK Entertainment Industry temprorarily. After the turmoil has past, maybe the hk ppl will forgive him and welcome him back……..or maybe not..xT
    I never really liked Edison nor did I hated him. I just thought he was very arrogant. But after this scandal, I think he has learned an important lesson. I hope he can mature and become a humble person maybe then I would idolize him.

    Believe that he’s sincere for now. As for charity and community voluntary works that he promised, well, let’s see if he really meant it.

    If he doesn’t look sincere enough about his apology for you, be known that he fear about his safety. He needed to have 3 bodyguards to follow him around at all times. And that’s meant that the threats against are very serious.

    Edison did not do anything wrong. He just forgot erasing those pixs when he took his laptop to the computer repair shop. Those women who slept with Edison must take their responsibilities for those @bscene pictures also. He did not r@pe anyone. This is mutual consent. He is a man and single.     i watched the news… what he said had the same meaning as the passage above…. but whoever transcribed it, got it really wrong!! its not word to word…….it sounded more like the transcriber heard a translation of it (eg. Chinese)… then tried to translate it back to english again!

    I agree, I still don’t understand why people insist on blaming just him and not the other girls involved. They were both willing parties and it’s true, even if he had shown those pictures to other people, like his friends, they were never meant to be distributed via internet to the national public.

    I totally feel bad for him after hearing his apology. Granted, his dicisions were irresponsible and some of the damage irreversible, but I feel like he’s sincere in his apology. Considering also, all the deals he’s lost and all the families that’ve been disgraced with this incident, he is going to have to back out from the HK entertainment industry for a while. Especially, like a previous poster said, the people over there are a lot more conservative and a lot less forgiving.

    Sam, I am sure his speech was done by a PR person and there is no way you can prove or force the issue that he did intend to distribute or show those pictures. Much as though I know he is stupid he is not stupid enough to ruin his own career. It is most likely true that it was never meant to be shown to the public so in many aspects his speech and apology is quite accurate or at least cannot be proven or claimed to be inaccurate. As for Hollywood I am sure he will not be able to cause even a ripple there unless he intends to be a B grade adult movie star for the asian market. Even then he will hardly be a household name. So you do not really have to worry abt Hollywood for him.

    It irks me that he looked as though he was reading off of a paper! It didn’t seem sincere, or rather it WASN’T sincere. If he sincerely meant it when he said those are private pictures not to be shown to anyone. What a nut job!     Edison was also a victim of this scandal. First of all I believe those pictures that were taken by him, is with consent of his female partners. as he have said, those (photos) were for his personal consumption and was not intended for distribution. Taking picture of your partner in intimate poses are fine as long as privacy is maintained. Sadly in his case, his private collection got exposed to the public.

    The people who are judging him on his grammar are CLEARLY the ones that cannot read, write or spell English - words and/or sentences.

    Honestly, does it really matter who wrote the freakin’ speech, as long as he came out - spoke what he thought, how he felt, and although I don’t believe he should have apologised, he did.

    As a celebrity, they deserve their privacy just as much as everyone else. They have families, have mothers, have feelings too - who gives us the right to judge?     the whole thing to me is an interesting story with an “proper ending”. i only know this guy via reading his stories in newspaper since last week. it caught my attention cos it happened in my home town where i grow up. unlike hollywood i really dont expect this kind of news originated from there. does he really feel sorry? who cares. at the end of the day he has done what he is expected to do so as to symbolically mark an end to the story. but i guess a lot of lads would feel sad if he really disappears from the screen forever.

    about the speech, as this matter got pretty huge and has involved the authority and law, it will be too hard for a perv. Like him to address to. he definitely needs a pro to write him this speech in order to carefully select the words to be announced to the public so that he would not be held against his words in the future.     I just happened to be visiting Hong Kong the past few weeks, when this scandal broke out. Anyone who hasn’t seen the pics were considered “out.” I think Edison’s apology statement came too late, if he had came out sooner, things wouldn’t have turned out as bad.

    I never liked Edison in the first place. I think his statement above is hypocritic. He has been planning to come out of the HK entertainment industry for a long while, he has made two Hollywood movies already as second or third class actor, before the scadal. After the scandal, when he was “seeking his soul” in the U.S. he was actually meeting with more Hollywood moviemakers. I guess it’s not such a big deal in a more open-minded market as the U.S. And, people tend to be forgetful.

    He never cared about the HK entertaiment industry anyway, as he hasn’t produced much in the last couple years anyway, after he started his own clothing company and recently became one of the youngest CEO.

So if Edison wants to ’save’ the pics for his own viewing pleasure, he would have done a backup and deleted the ones on his laptop before he sends for repair. What’s more being a so-called celebrity, the repair men will snoop even harder for pics in his laptop.     well as far as i know, even if you delete all you pictures into the recycle bin, or even formatted ur hard disk b4 you sent it to repair, there are softwares that can be used to recover all these details.

    For eg. if you delete pics using recycle bin, it is just like deleting away the page number of a book. the content is still intact in somewhere inside you harddisk. Likewise for reformatting. I can tell you that i can buy 2nd hard disk from ebay or anywhere and recover important document or passwords from the previous owner.

    The only way to solve is to use a hammer and destroy you harddisk. I am not joking. You can make some researches on what i have said.

    I just watched the apology and I thought it was pretty lame. For 95% of it, he didn’t seem sincere and sound and look like he’s just reading a script. However, it’s sad that he and Gillian has to apologize or explain in the first place because they didn’t do anything wrong. Edison is as much a victim as the female stars involved. They might be accountable for their public behaviours, (because of they are celebrities) but they are definitely not accountable for their (legal) private behaviours to anyone. Is having s@x with your girlfiends or dates a crime? So he happens to be popular with girls, is that a crime? So he likes to keep pictures of their s@x lives, is that wrong? We have to understand that just because so many girls sleep with him doesn’t make him a bad person. The girls themselves were not forced to sleep with him. Even if Edison is the playboy type who date so many girls, perhaps at the same time, is that really our business? Besides, who is to say that the girls themselves are not also dating more than one person, or I’m sure most of them have had their fair share of boyfriends, no less than Edison.
    Remember, Their privacy got invaded because someone stole these pictures and uploaded them for the world to see, and suddenly it became everybody’s business. Let’s not forget that we’re looking at stolen pictures.
    In any case, it’s their misfortune that their private lives got stolen and uploaded. Those who stole and uploaded them are ultimately the ones to blame, and the only ones to blame. The power of the media and general human curiousity didn’t help of course. Most of the HK citizens who are complaining are also responsible for driving what has been a non-stop one month front page media coverage of all of this which is making the whole thing worse than it really is every single day.
