Edison Chen and Gillian Chung Naughty Pic Scandal
Edison Chen and Gillian Chung, both actors, are now in the middle of a scandal as naughty pictures of their intimate bedroom activities has somehow been leaked onto the Internet. The pics are real, and came from Edison’s laptop. Chung was interviewed after the release of naughty pictures from a previous scandal. Chung should have learned the first time. You may not be able to understand Chinese, but those tears streaming down her face in the interview are universal. Don’t look at these pics at work.
The scandal started after pictures were taken from Edison Chen’s laptop by a technician that was repairing it. There were a total of approximately 1,300 pictures. The naughty pictures included Bobo Chan Man, Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi, Edison Chen, Gillian Chung, Gillian Chung Yun-Tung, Joey Yung, Yu Chiu, Vincy Yeung, Cecilia Cheung, Yumiko Cheng, Mandy Chen, BoBo Chen, Rachel Ngan, Candice Chan, Jolin Tsai, Maggie Q, and some say even Japanese star Chiaki Kuriyama, and possibly more. On 2-23 we found out there are three more female celebrities that are now involved.

UPDATE 2-3-2008:There are several pictrues which proved the identities of the stars, even though some like Gillian, claimed the pictures were the result of photoshop. Later Gillian admitted the pictures of her were real.

2-11: Charlene Choi sat next to Gillian Chung today in a news conference, which was Gillian’s first public appearance since the Edison Chen scandal hit the news. Gillian apologized. However, Gillian looked like she was having so much fun at the press conference, it’s hard to believe she is sincerely sorry, but rather sorry she was caught, and the whole scandal made public. Meanwhile, Ming Pao, a Hong Kong newspaper, reported that negotiations for Gillian’s pop duo, Twins, to endorse a toothpaste company in mainland China for HK$4 million have fallen through as a result of the scandal. Hong Kong Disneyland pulled from its website a Chinese New Year advertisement featuring Gillian’s band Twins. However, a spokesperson for Disney denied that the withdrawal had anything to do with the scandal and said that the length of the campaign was decided upon long beforehand.

2-11: Edison Chen, the only male celebrity to be implicated by the scandal, will return to Hong Kong to face the media this week, his management confirmed today. Ms Leung, of East Asia Music, said that Edison will arrive back in Hong Kong on Thursday or Friday. She denied that he had left the country to avoid the fallout from the scandal. Edison is supposedly going to help police catch the insider who is releasing the photos. Today Hong Kong authorities caught the ninth suspect without Edison’s help. There have been protests in the streets, and complaints that Edison is just as guilty as the suspects who have been caught. There are also complaints that the people involved are getting a free pass because they are celebrities.
2-11: Miriam Yeung, who made an appearance yesterday at a Chinese New Year event at Harbour City as guest of honour, and is Edison Chen’s godsister, said she had been sending text messages of support, but did not wish to comment on the scandal. As for suggestions that her name will also appear on the list of female celebrities involved in the scandal, Miriam said that she did not want to comment any further and with the scandal bringing down the general morality in society, she did not want to perpetuate the reports any further. When reporters asked if her parents had questioned her about the incident, she said that her mother trusts her completely and she has her own integrity, so after 12 years in the industry, she has no need to explain herself.
2-11: Nat Chan, Bobo Chan’s former boss, said that he had not called her when the scandal hit the news, but said that he was quite worried about her situation. As for suggestions that her engagement had been cancelled as a result of the scandal, Nat refused to comment.

Edison Chen has had his advertisements for Manhattan Titanium, a credit card company, pulled, as a result of the ongoing naughty photos scandal, Sing Tao Daily, a Hong Kong newspaper, reported today. The advertising campaign was launched last month.
This is the latest blow for the Hong Kong star, after being cut from an upcoming movie last Tuesday. Columbia Pictures announced that its film Jump, a joint production with Stephen Chow’s company Star Overseas, which was due for release 1 May, had been put back until 1 October. The Hong Kong-made film was to star Edison alongside Kitty Zhang.
Sing Tao Daily estimated that the scandal could cost Edison, who was seen as one of the coolest entertainers in Hong Kong showbiz, HK$10m a year in work and endorsements.
The newspaper reported that Edison earned over HK$2m as an actor last year, including his voiceover work for the Cantonese version of Shrek the Third.
Edison’s reputation has recently been boosted by roles in Hollywood films like The Grudge 2 and the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight.
Sing Tao Daily reported that Edison could demand a HK$400,000 fee for a 20-minute singing performance.
Sponsors of Edison include Pepsi, Levi’s, Jacobs & Co, Samsung and EPS. Sing Tao Daily estimated that the star could demand HK$1m for each endorsement.
A Pepsi spokesperson said that the company would not drop Edison but are constantly monitoring the situation. An EPS spokesperson said the same.
Edison’s company Clot Inc also does a lot of collaborative work with companies like Nike and Coach.
2-10: A source told Oriental Daily News, a Hong Kong newspaper, that Edison Chen, the only male celebrity implicated by the scandal, who reportedly flew to the US to avoid the media commotion, has become depressed, reclusive and unwilling to eat. The source told Hong Kong’s bestselling daily that Edison had been advised by his lawyers not to talk to reporters. The source said that Edison’s family and friends are deeply concerned about the star’s wellbeing. Edison released a recorded message last Monday, but has not appeared in public or in the media since. Legal professionals say Edison himself could be held legally liable since he did not take reasonable and prudent action to protect the naughty pictures on his laptop before turing it over to a technician for repair.
2-9: Jackie Chan was asked about the recent news that pictures of Edison Chen’s current girlfriend Vincy Yeung, have been released, Jackie asked the reporters who Vincy was. When Jackie was told that Vincy is the daughter of Ricky Yeung, brother of EEG boss Albert Yeung, Jackie seemed uncomfortable and wanted to leave. As he left, Jackie said that he will be quite busy in the near future because he will be filming some promotional clips for the Olympic Games equestrian events, that will be held in Hong Kong. He revealed that he will be doing some horse-riding and also going to Athens to help with the delivery of the Olympic flame. Jackie was at an event providing China Snowstorm relief.
2-8: Netizens reported that a video of Edison Chen and Maggie Q involved in intimate acts had surfaced on the web. It was rumoured that the intimate tape showed up on a Hong Kong discussion board, but was swiftly removed by moderators. Even before the scandal broke, Maggie was widely reported in Hong Kong newspapers to have dated Edison a few years ago.
2-6: BoBo Chan was engaged to marry stock market genius, Philip Jin Zi Yao, however, after the scandal hit the news Phillip’s mother ordered him to end his relationship with Bobo. Reports say Bobo cried for many days.
1-31: Stephy Tang was asked if she is worried that she will be next to be dragged into the scandal, she replied that she is not worried, because she has never had naughty pictures taken of her. Stephy also commented that if someone digitally faked her into such photos, she would discuss the matter with her company, and depending on the situation, they would decide what action to take.

What I commented earlier was true. The latest report by HG has it that Edison was suspected of distributing the photos himself to boost his presence in the Hollywood like what Paris did. Like said earlier, who would be so stupid enough to send one’s laptop for repair without making sure all the n^de pics & videos(thousands of them) will not fall into the wrong hands ? Unless of course, he wishes to have some publicity ? He probably need it because i think he doesn’t have what it takes to be a star in Hong Kong let alone Hollywood, he doesnt have the aura or the talent. Told you guys didnt I ? Actually he can escape to the Antartica, its safer there. Chances are there are no triads there …
I think I am more worried about Edison’s safety than the female celebrities’s image or marriage. OMG, he was trying to get help in rehab, yet he was beaten up by his in-mates. Poor Edison, I dont think he is safe anywhere. I just hope he won’t get kill by the triads. I’m sure Edison has learned his lessons from this scandal. What is wrong in showing the 1,000 copies of photos and video? If these women and man dare to do it, it shows that they ain’t scare at all.
They just want to show the world of what they are capable of. As you can see, Gillain doesn’t show any remorse of the scandal and also the rest of the women.
If they can pick up the pieces and go back to work immediately than I believe they can handle the whole situation very well. In real fact, they are all very strong women as well as when they are in bed. This is their very strong character which I admire! This is really amazing!!!

I agree and disagree with many of the comments that i had read. The man who stole the pictures from the laptop is in no doubt in the wrong here. Yes, Edison was stupid for not deleting those pic., making backup, setting passwords, and so on. I agree that this too is only a small matter when you look at it in the point of view that these naughty pictures are just that and was never meant to go public. No, I do not believe that Edison is sorry for taking those pictures but he is for being stupid and letting it out in public. I am sure he is angry with himself for it. I do not agree with one comment stating that perhaps the females were force to do it. Like someone else posted its what you do in the bedroom and you do it because it makes you feel good, you trusted the person, the guy was your boyfriend, and so forth. Although all the females caught in it is stupid, I would not let any one take pictures of me naked and not have the print and film in my hands for security. They unintentionally acted in a photo snapping show. In this city of entertainment world like Hong Kong they should be paid as compensation for what they have contributed for the public through illegally up loading to the internet by someone unknown to anyone at the present moment.
Obviously, the person who held the camera did the photography shooting should stand out and make the payment for compensating those poor beautiful actresses if he was truly sorry for what he did
Unluckily they could be possibly drugged or intoxicated to do something they didn’t quite aware of when they were mentally weakened by influences.
Suffice to above it wasn’t their fault. Any unfriendly and sharp comment to be put upon them is considered unwise and unfair. Imputation shouldn’t be raised against them.
Suggestion is formed to remind their managers to take up action on filing in court to make the claiming of names tarnishing, images damaging and advertisement cancellation for them.

I hope they make a movie out of this scandal. Would be cool. Maybe Hollywood would make it. Change the location to Hollywood and make up fictional actors and actresses to play Edison Chen and these starlets.

I still love Edison Chen no matter what… I still love all of my female celebrities… I love their acting in movies, i love there voices in singing, I love everything about them. I don’t let this little tiny tiny stuff let in the way.

I think the reason Edison still keeping those pictures is for memories of his love ones. He didn’t intended to share it to anyone. His laptop was broken down which means everything was down. How could he deleted those pictures before sending it to computer technician? Everybody have a brain including Edison.
Maybe there is something really important in that hard drive and not just those pictures. Maybe those pictures were locked before he sent it into the shop.

Digital photos can be stored on; external harddrive, CD, DVD, USB flash disc. Such a big variety of devices which he could’ve stored in a PRIVATE place. The only reason i can think of to have the photos on his laptop is that he likes to take it out to show people.

I think Edison just wants to show off his ‘conquests’ to the world. After all, would you or me send a laptop for repair knowing very well that it contains private n^de pics ? What’s more being a so-called ‘celebrity’, the repair men will very likely to snoop for any pics in his laptop. He is just a young punk who can’t think, and has low intelligence in managing his life matters as far as sending laptop for repair. He could have asked someone trusted to repair it, or at least be there to monitor the progress while the repair is being done. He just wanted publicity for his attempts at Hollywood. I am quite sure a lot of artists send laptops (containing n^de pics) for repairs, but were never caught with any scandals. He wanted the scandal to boost his image. I never liked Edison. Always thought he was talentless and only ever got into the business because of his hardcore rich father.
But he really has worked hard over the years to slowly build his reputation up to the level he’s in (or was in).
His singing has improved immensly. His movies are beginning to really show his abilities in acting; hitting into Hollywood with the Grudge and all.
And this is what makes me feel saddened by this scandal – that we lose one of Hong Kong’s most talented and able entertainers because of something sooooo (in my eyes) little.
I don’t think we can ever conclude who’s right and who’s wrong in this epidemic. Though theres no doubt in my mind that many of you will see Edison as a pretty, shall we say, stupid human being when it comes to data protection on computers.
Still, i really hope he bounces back from this. Because he’s one of the few Hong Kong actors that can really make a stage in Hollywood, with the likes of Jackie Chan (and his poor english).

Everybody has the right to their intimacy, we are not to either judge them or worse, blame them and do not support them. Everybody has a s@x life, and I think Edison is just a guy, the girls did that because they wanted to, not because they were forced. The Chinese society values “purity” and it’s time we look at society and whats happening with clearer perspectives instead of trying to blame people on the values that are no longer part of our lives. For me Edison is just a guy wanting intimacy, wanting fun, and the girls just girls equally lonely with their biological needs as simple as that ~

crazo, no one can ever come to a conclusion on who is right or wrong or who are the “real victims”. But I am sure most people would agree that being famous celebs surrounded with the best PR agencies and managers to watch or help watch over their careers that they would be smarter (eg use a freaking external) or better in their decision making PERIOD.
Using love as an excuse is the stupidest thing ever. True love does not require you to do something you do not want to do. If your boyfriend said “to prove your love to me please disown your parents or religion or beliefs” is it really love? No its a selfish statement. Grow up. In any competitive industry if you do not grow up or wise up, you get left behind. Why shouldnt celebs be treaten any fairly just like any human would? If you cant accept the demands of any industry they sack you or leave you behind. Why should it be any different for these “human celebs”? Or are there only given “human” benefits of doubt when they make mistakes? Stop contradicting yourselves
