A strong earthquake in Wenchuan County of Sichuan Province has rocked China on May 12, 2008. The earthquake measured 7.8 on the Richter scale according to China’s State Seismological Bureau was felt in the thousands-kilometers-away provinces or regions including Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hongkong, and Taiwan among others. The powerful earthquake killed at over 10,000 people and counting. It also buried thousands of middle school students in Sichuan as the tremor caused buildings to fall.
The video below is live footage taken by a man caught in the earthquake in Sichuan when it hit Monday in China.
A cyclone also hit Myanmar (Burma) last week, which borders China, and Thailand. The cyclone killed over 100,000 people, and is threatening the lives of another 2 million people there. The Myanmar disaster makes the New Orleans disaster look very small in comparison, and there’s no FEMA or President Bush to blame for not doing enough in Myanmar.
