Duane “Dog” Chapman Loses Extradition Battle in Mexico

A federal court has cleared the way for TV bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman to be extradited to face charges in Mexico, court officials said. Norma Jara, a spokeswoman for the second district court in Guadalajara, said the court rejected Chapman’s injunction request, ruling there was no reason not to try him with the charge of deprivation of liberty of Mexico. "We only just heard about the Mexican court’s decision to continue with the extradition proceedings, and are still in shock," Chapman and his wife, Beth, said in a statement issued Thursday night in Honolulu. "Our attorneys have not even been formally informed of the court’s decision, as of yet," they said. "We are obviously deeply disappointed and fearful of what will happen, and are currently absorbing the news and discussing our options at this time."
Mexican authorities had already asked for Chapman’s extradition from Hawaii. Chapman’s lawyers argued he would not be guaranteed a fair trial in Mexico, Jara said. The charges against the 53-year-old star of the A&E reality series "Dog the Bounty Hunter" stem from his June 2003 capture of convicted rapist Andrew Luster, the Max Factor heir, in Puerto Vallarta, 210 miles west of Guadalajara.
Chapman was arrested Sept. 14 along with his son and another associate and released on $300,000 bail. He faces up to four years in a Mexican jail if convicted.
Luster’s capture shot the Honolulu-based bounty hunter to fame and led to the TV series. His disappearance set off an international manhunt by police, FBI and bounty hunters trying to recoup some of the bond money. Luster is serving a 124-year prison term.
This is sad, because we need to have an extradition agreement with Mexico to get back fugitives that flee to Mexico, however Dog had to go down and retrieve Luster because Federalies did not do their jobs in Mexico. It’s no secret there’s a lot of corruption in Mexico, and it’s for that reason we should not allow Dog to be extradited, because he may not receive a fair trial or sentence if convicted. Our State Department needs to accompany him ever step of the way through the process.
A bigger problem is illegal immigration. Click here to see how California is becoming Mexifornia.

i like your show
We just need to tell Mexico what they can go do with themselves, and tell them we will not allow Dog to be sent back and tried.
It’s time we stand up for ourselves and actually show other countries that we’re as confident in ourselves as we say we are.
We talk a big game, but when it comes down to it, we’re a joke.
I have been told by various friends in Jalisco that Chapman would have been fined, scolded and released if he had stayed in Mexico. His jumping bail and then making no attempt to clear anything up really pissed off the Jalisco legal system.
Luster wasn’t spotted because he blended in with the rest of the West Coast surf bums: lived cheaply, surfed and partied. The usual Interpol and cross-border wanted information was exchanged, but it took a while for someone to recognize him.
Kizzy – Mexico HAS an extradition treaty with the USA … they have been sending drug lords, child molesters and other criminals back to the US to face trial. Mexico, like most of Europe and Asia, will NOT extradite anyone who faces the death penalty.
dreadpiratecuervo asks – “How is that Mexico can extradite Dog from us but we couldn’t extradite Luster from them?”
Luster was not “extradited”, which as you see is a long process. Because Luster entered Mexico using a false name, Mexico DEPORTED him, which is fast and easy. He was headed for the USA in the custody of Mexican immigration police within 48 hours of being caught.
It makes me so sad. Dog and Beth are “every” man. They’re doing what’s trying to do what’s right, fighting the fight, and they treat their fellow man with dignity. How can that be ignored? Things really need to change, because it truly isn’t right. I’m keeping them in my prayers…………….
This is criminal in itself. Dog should be backed by politcians and citizens of this country. Where are the politcians now. One of our citizens is in trouble for “extraditing” a covicted criminal that should have not been able to run in the first place. It is because Luster was good for the economic development of Mexico that they are punishing the Dog.
how could we start a petition to keep the Dog here .this is so sad, what about Leland
This is B_LL S__T!
Why doesn’t the US stand up for it’s citizens?… maybe because it’s too busy taking care of the illegal immigrants.
How is it that our government pays CIA operatives to kidnap and torture an innocent man in Italy, in absolute violation of Italian law, the operatives are indicted in an Italian court and our government is not going to extradite them to face trial… but they will extradite a decent American who brought a scumbag to justice? Anyone else see a problem here?
How is that Mexico can extradite Dog from us but we couldn’t extradite Luster from them?
The reason Mexico WON’T sign an extradition agreement with us is BECAUSE of the level of corruption in the past, as well as the present, keeps them from it. The Mexican Government certainly does not seem to care very much about it’s people, especially women and girls. How many truckloads of smuggled in illegal aliens have been found full of dead people, due to the conditions they were forced to travel? All those girls that were murdered in border towns, that the Mexican Government chose to ignore until we found a bunch on our side of the border and started asking questions? If “Dog” Chapman and his sons hadn’t gone down there and captured Andrew Luster, a SERIAL RAPIST, who got off on screwing UNCONSCIOUS girls, there would have been a LOT of Mexican girls who found themselves drugged and raped, and given the predilection for unconscious victims, I am sure Luster would have escalated further until he was murdering his victims, and committing necrophelia on them. How would the Mexican Government have dealt with THAT scenario? KEEP “DOG” FREE!!!!!
