DJ AM has Died

DJ AM, real name Adam Golstein (36), was found dead this afternoon in his New York City apartment.

Police say they found a crack pipe, and pill bottles, in the apartment. Despite being drug free for 11 years, it appears DJ AM may have died as a result of drug use.

There is speculation that DJ AM may have started using drugs again as a result of stress from a plane crash he survived in September of last year, and suffered burns from. There is also speculation that DJ AM may have turned to drugs due to the emotional trauma from Hayley Wood breaking up with him in the last week.

A rep for DJ AM just issued the following statement:

"Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein was found deceased this afternoon in his New York City apartment. The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear. Out of respect for his family and loved ones, please respect their privacy at this time."

On Agust 25th DJ AM tweeted this on Twitter:

"New york, new york. Big city of dreams, but everything in new york aint always what it seems."

The lyric is the opening line to the famous Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five song New York, New York.

DJ AM had also completed 8 episodes for his new show Gone Too Far, which helped drug addicts near death get off drugs before it was too late. DJ AM was one of those who needed intervention, but he went too far.
