David Archuleta Got a Record Deal

American Idol loser David Archuleta signed with the same record label that signed David Cook, Jive Records.

David’s father is in trouble again. Jeff Archuleta took it upon himself to organize a concert entitled Back Home With David Archuleta at the 12,000-seat E Center stadium in Salt Lake City, but he didn’t clear it through American Idol who still have a contract with David.

A source told the New York Post that Idol execs were concerned that the one-night-only show would damage ticket sales for the official American Idol Live summer tour, which is stopping for two dates at the E Center on July 14th and 15th. The source said:

"They were afraid people wouldn’t buy tickets for the Idol tour if they had already seen David on stage in Salt Lake City."

Jeff told the Salt Lake City Tribune:

"When all the minds met, everyone concluded this wouldn’t work out for this particular weekend, and they just want to reschedule it toward the middle or end of the tour."

Jeff reminds me a lot of Michael Lohan.

Your introduction was so rude - “The American Idol loser David Archuleta”????? Hello?? He may have lost the title but he is the runner-up. I don’t think it is that easy for any 17 year old kid to achieve that after how many thousands had auditioned all over America. People who hate David Archuleta should at least give him the credit he deserves. He didn’t do anything wrong to anybody so please stop. The show was long over. Stop the hate, it’s time to learn to love. I love David Cook too, but it’s just not right to be unkind or sarcastic to the Archuleta kid. Some people need to grow up.

“IMAGINE” David A’s pick for his final song. People go back and watch it again. Listen to the message. There is a reason it is the most watched video after the show. Loser is such an abusive word. Why can it not be second winner. Someone who took almost 1/2 of millions of votes can not be labeled a loser. In doing so you label most of America’s voters losers. I am with David A. I do not think of what he achieved on AI is losing, but a great achievement for the youth of today. Remember folks that David A. said it his self to Ryan on the show. “I am seventeen”, let us remember that and respect his youth. Stop trying to steal this moment of happiness from him. David A. your take on “Imagine” was inspiring.

Oh, please——will the Archuleta fantards never cease taking offense at simple facts? He was in the final with David Cook. He lost by 12 million votes. Get over it.
By the way, a record contract is guaranteed to the top two finishers. Sony-BMG has to sign them. They placed David A. with Jive records, one of their sub-labels.
The problem with the Salt Lake city concert was that the Idol Tour concert in Salt Lake City wasn’t sold out, so they insisted that David’s concert be held after the tour went through Salt Lake City. Contractually, none of the top 10 finishers can sing anywhere until their contract with AI expires after the tour, except at Idol-sanctioned events. Longer for the winner and runner-up.
