Conrad Murray Did Not Call 911 for Michael Jackson for 30 Minutes

Dr. Conrad Murray, a cardiologist, said via his attorney Edward Chernoff, he did not call 911 for 30 minutes after he began doing CPR on Michael Jackson.
To successfully save someone in cardiac arrest most supportive measures need to be performed within 5 to 10 minutes, or as quickly as possible, like shocking the heart with a defibrillator, after they are hooked up to an EKG to determine if they need to be shocked, an IV (intravenous line) started to administer drugs to support the heart and circulation like epinephrine (adrenalin), atropine, and perhaps anti arrhythmic drugs such as lidocaine, pronestyl, bretylium, or amiodarone, depending on the heart rhythm the person is in. If the heart stopped, or isn’t beating effectively, an external pacemaker could be applied to keep the heart beating.
There are three extremely suspicious issues here. First Dr. Murray, who is a heart doctor, did not properly perform CPR. An adult is always placed on a hard surface, and CPR is then performed with two hands, otherwise the proper compressions may not occur to circulate the blood in the body, and to the brain. Second, the rumors are that Michael stopped breathing, but Dr. Murray never said he did mouth-to-mouth to provide Michael’s body with oxygen. If Michael’s heart stopped beating because Michael wasn’t breathing, and the heart stopped due to a lack of oxygen, then giving Michael mouth-to-mouth would support his heart. Only giving Michael chest compressions, and not giving Michael oxygen with mouth-to-mouth breathing, for 30 minutes would kill anyone. Third, doing CPR for 30 minutes, with one hand behind the person’s back is so exhausting you couldn’t possibly keep going. Put a pillow on your bed, then put on hand underneath it, and do CPR type compressions on top of the pillow for 30 minutes, and you will see how hard that is.
The bottom line is this. Dr. Murray, in my opinion, did everything he could to delay Michael getting proper emergency medical attention, that the doctor could not possibly provide just by virtue of the fact he was a doctor. Without the proper emergency equipment and medication, Michael was sure to die, and he did.
Dr. Murray’s other excuse for not calling 911 was that Michael’s phones in the house didn’t work, and Michael didn’t have a phone in his room. All doctors walk around with a cell phone on their hip. Dr. Murray’s response was that he didn’t know Michael’s exact address for 911, so he waited until he could get security to call for him.
We believe Dr. Murray should be investigated for malpractice, and possible criminal charges, in the death of Michael Jackson. Even if Dr. Murray did not give Michael the drugs that could have killed him, Dr. Murray certainly didn’t do what a CPR trained non-medical professional would have done, like call 911 right away, and give Michael CPR on the floor with two hands. Murray admits he was being paid $150,000 per month to be Michael’s personal physician, but he certainly didn’t give Michael even a dollar worth of care in our opinion.
Dr. Murray’s attorney keeps saying Murray checked to make sure there was blood flow during CPR. How could Dr. Murray check to see if there was blood flow, which is done by feeling the pulse in the neck via the carotid artery, if one hand was behind Michael’s back, and the other hand was on Michael’s chest? Murray isn’t believable.

First, propofol is a sedating IV medication that is either used by anesthesiologists during procedures or surgeries or in the ICU to sedate patients who resist their “breathing machine”. It is a drug that has to be monitored EXTREMELY close (heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure) for signs of respiratory depression or bradycardia which can lead to an arrest. Usually patients are on oxygen or a ventilator while getting it. There MUST BE recessitory equipment available e.g. endotracheal tube for intubation (which a doctor must be trained to insert the tube properly), oxygen, defibrillator and well-trained staff. The fact that this doctor used this drug AT ALL in the home is extreme negligence to the degree of a crime in itself, even if it was not the only drug that MJ had in his system when the tox results come back. Also, giving propofol when you know a patient has taken a myriad of other sedatives is even more dangerous. This physician couldn’t even follow the basic cardiac life support guidelines, let alone advanced cardiac life support. SCAREY!!!!
I agree with Josie Wales. Many of these high paying doctors for the stars are not up-to-date with the new red cross guideline for CPR and think that they are too “knowledgeable” to follow the guidelines.
Michael may still be alive if he had a competent provider with him. It is obvious that the one he had was incompetent, because he panic and had no reversal agent or Narcan with him.
He should be sued or disbared.
Thanks
Didn’t anybody bother to look up new red cross guidelines for CPR? More emphasis is on chest compressions than mouth to mouth breathing. Research has proven not much oxygen is really delivered via mouth to mouth method. Chest compressions are so important to circulate blood to the brain. The ratio is 30 compressions to 1 breath. Check it yourself…
As for the cell phone, maybe that day he dropped his or something. Just happens to be the worse day…
Give the guy a break for now. Let’s see what the blood tests come up with.
If Michael Jackson died of a Diprivan overdose, he would have needed IV NARCAN or other reversal agent, not defibrillation. Maybe Michael would have been smarter to hire a private anesthesiologist or yet, private ER doc, not cardiologist for his care. That way, the doctor could reverse his self administered overdoses.
Lesson to be learned from all of this, don’t take drugs, leisure or prescription, lightly. They can kill you.
Josie,
Narcan doesn’t work for non-narcotic drugs like Diprivan.
Diprivan can stop a person from breathing, and when a person stops breathing long enough, and the heart muscle doesn’t get enough oxygen as a result, the heart goes crazy or stops altogether. If the cardiologist would have done only mouth-to-mouth right away, Michael’s heart would not have essentially stopped circulating blood, so there would have been no need for chest compressions. A cardiologist is more than qualified to know what to do if Michael stops breathing.
He was already gone. Dr didn’t find him until it was too late and made up the stupid story. Probably didn’t monitor him, etc
“Let him die”?
Why kill the Cash Cow?
And just because someone is a doctor doesn’t mean they are qualified OR quick-thinking…or actually “good” at their profession.
Regardless, even if CPR had been performed in a timely manner,it may or may not have saved him.Don’t rely on hearsay or one side of a story before making a judgement.
C’mon,folks..MJ was a mess and on the road of self-destruction.He was NOT a God or above the frailties of man…he was just a carbon-based life-form like the rest of us.
That Cardo Dr knew exactly what he was doing, and choose to do nothing, He KILLED him and should be charged with his death!!!

The doctor didn’t perform CPR on Michael. He just let him die. That’s what I think.

I AGREE WITH THAT.
The doctor didn’t perform CPR on Michael. He just let him die. That’s what I think.
Chernoff is a scumbag. He must think people are idiots to believe a doctor would be dumb enough to take 30 mins to call 911 and conduct CPR on a bed one-handed.
It appears that Conrad Murray let Michael Jackson die. If this is the case, I have no doubt Murray will catch a bullet real soon from an MJ fan.
