Coldplay Screws Record Stores
Posted on May 9, 2008 at 9:19 am (PST)
Cold Play has announced fans can buy their album Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends at half the usual price with their buy one get one free offer on Internet downloads. Even if you buy one song, you’ll get a second song free off the album. Chris Martin has said:
“Buy one get one free, it comes from working in Kwik Save (British budget supermarket), I think. As I said before nobody buys albums any more, certainly no body buys full albums, and we’ve made an album that you have to have from start to finish.”
Cold Play is going to do whatever it takes to sell this album, whether it’s good or not. Record stores must feel really betrayed right now. It’s no wonder so many are going out of business. Why would anyone buy this album in a record store, when you can get it online at half the cost?

that quote was misunderstood. Chris is refering to the fact that in the album there are 2 or 3 double tracks that contain to songs. so when buying one of those, you will get two songs for the price of one.
