Wow your ignorance baffles me!

Something you might want to look up before posting:

Who is the number one beneficiary of affirmative action programs? WHITE WOMEN. They are protected minorities under the umbrella of affirmative action. So your sister, mother, girlfriend, wife, and/or daughter benefit from affirmative action regardless of ethnic origin.

Something else to consider. Affirmative action combats preferences propagated by the oldest affirmative action program in history: the good old boy system. The good old boy system got GW Bush into Yale even though he didn’t have the grades; it got Sarah Palin the VP nomination even though there were more qualified female Republicans; and it was pervasive in the Bush administration as he often promoted those who were loyal more so than those who were qualified.

Your comment makes me even more comfortable that my understanding of affirmative action is correct, and your representation is laced with bias and hatred for Republicans, and WHITE WOMEN, rather than facts. The good old boy system will always exist. It is human nature. Just as it is human nature for groups to segregate themselves like the NAACP, and the black congressional caucus. Affirmative action denies those who are best qualified from getting the job, while allowing a lesser qualified person to get the job, which affects the quality of their work and productivity in a negative way, so the employer gets less for their investment.

Affirmative action was meant to force businesses to give those less qualified a chance. Today however, that law is no longer necessary since America sees everyone as Americans, and can judge for themselves who is best qualified. This is a different generation that doesn’t need those ideals forced on them.

Thank you for offering an opposing point of view. I hope in the future you’ll refrain from using labels like ignorant. We all have different opinions, sometimes strong, but we’re all still Americans with the right to speak freely.

  • I love white women. Ask my girlfriend. Its just a statement of fact. In my previous post, I stated that all women were beneficiaries of affirmative action. White women just are more numerous and have made the most gains. I’m glad you acknowledged that the good old boy system always has and always will exist, but you failed to comment on the injustice inherent in that system or the fact that over the years far more people have gotten into positions for who the knew as opposed to what they knew. By the way, the NAACP and Congressional Black Caucus were founded during a time when the majority party or race would not speak to the issues facing the ethnic communities. Whether or not they are still relevant is a debate that is going on within the black community. As far as affirmative action giving jobs or opportunities to less qualified applicants, I find it ironic that you don’t pick up on the inherent racism within that assertion. By stating that less qualified applicants are taking jobs from more qualified white applicants you assume that a applicant is more qualified based on his race (white). How about all the times minority individuals were denied jobs or opportunities because people in power wanted to fill the spots with less qualified friends or to return favors?

My comment only referred to people who are or who are not qualified. You interpreted that to somehow mean white, which amounts to putting words in my mouth. I said Americans are Americans. The government has made legal a form of reverse discrimination with affirmative action, which falls under the two wrongs don’t make a right category. Affirmative action is an old boy system all in itself, as it excludes certain members of our society in favor of other members of our society. If you agree that the good old boy system is wrong, then you in principal also agree that Affirmative action is just as wrong. Discrimination is wrong, especially when the government is forcing it upon us.

  • A Black Republican
Interesting video. It goes to show that the Black community is not monolithic. There were some legitimate points. I am an independent and not registered with either party. I believe that Democrats do take the Black vote for granted and come around when elections roll around. I also believe, however, that the Republican party has shown very little interest in making inroads into the Black community. It also doesn’t help to incite fears about minorities or different ethinic/ religious groups at McCain rallies, though. McCain and Palin should tell supporters that, though Obama wants to take the nation in a different direction, there is no place for “kill him” at a rally. I am disappointed that McCain/Palin didn’t shut that down on the spot. Also labeling someone a “terrorist” without proof (knowing someone who served on a board with you doesn’t count) is slander. If Republicans took a list of their positions and went to a black church (the cornerstone of the Black community) they would find that most Blacks are anti-abortion, against gay marriage, don’t like welfare, etc. The effort has to be made though. Ken Mehlman tried to make inroads but nothing came to fruition. McCain took a step by talking to the Urban League. All Blacks are NOT beholden to the Democratic party. But what is being shown out by the McCain/Palin campaign is NOT winning friends amongst Blacks or most civil minded Americans (Republicans included).
  • What Just Happened?
Democrats didn’t gain control of both houses of congress until 2006. That means the Republicans were the majority party and dictated the agenda. Now, since 2006, the Democrats have to answer for. Unfortunately, in the world of politics, if it happens on your watch (whether its good or bad) then you own it.

I did forget to add in my last response that John McCain sponsored a bill in 2005 that would have brought Fannie and Freddie under control, because all the politicians knew those organizations were out of control, and would sink the economy. When the Republicans and Democrats were asked how they would vote for the bill to reign in Freddie and Fannie, 100% of the Republicans said they would vote for the bill, and 100% of the democrats said they would vote against it. The democrats then blocked the bill from being officially voted on so the bill was dead, even though the democrats were in the minority. After the Democrats regained the majority, the Republicans resubmitted a similar bill to reign in Freddie and Fannie, but once again the Democrats killed the bill. Those are the facts. Make up your own mind as to who you want to blame.

  • What Just Happened?
    What happened?

Who controlled 2/3 branches of government in 2003 and 2004? Republicans.

If this was such a problem, why didn’t the Republicans who controlled the executive AND legislative branches (and maybe a slim edge in the judicial branch) do more?

Why not mention the fact that Rick Davis, McCain’s top campaign advisor, was getting checks from Freddie and Fannie up to last month and was lobbying for them in 2003?

Who cares anyway? According to Phil Gramm this is all in our minds. It is a mental recession.

Thank you for your thoughtful insight. As a counter point I’d like to add, the Democrats have controlled congress for the past several years, and have been overseeing Freddie and Fannie while they crashed our financial and mortgage markets. The Democrats also blocked Republican efforts to fix the problem with those two institutions, as you can see in the video they said there was no problem, despite the fact they were in the minority in 2004.

  • Barack Obama Wants Sex Education in Kindergarten
Please provide a clip with Obama’s actual words stating that he wants sex education for 4-5 year olds. Not part of a clip of Obama talking about what a potential Republican opponent says. Here’s another nugget for thought. I think sex-ed should be taught at home by loving parents (I don’t think anyone would dispute that). However, seeing that many parents don’t talk to young children about inappropriate touching et al, is it appropriate for children to be educated as such in school by trained teachers? Is it appropriate for kids 4-5 to know that people should not touch their naughty bits? Would it decrease the number of per capita incest or rape cases in Alaska?

    ***HG says***

How liberal of you to mention Alaska. The video clip provided shows Obama clearly saying educating young children “is the right thing to do,” but of course you can’t accept what you hear or see.

There are family members, and strangers, that talk to 4 and 5 year-olds about sex. Those people are called pedophiles. Teaching children about sex isn’t going to stop pedophiles from committing their crimes.

Don’t make excuses for Obama, or try to divert attention from his advocacy of sex ed for 5 year-olds. Just tell us if you agree with his sex ed policy.

  • Sarah Palin Attacked by Liberal Democrats
Again, he was talking about the policies of McCain-Palin. He posited that McCain-Palin are running as “change agents” in Washington but are really planning a “3rd term of G.W. Bush” and “more of the same”. Just because Palin used a joke that is old and has been used in all arenas of work (difference between a PACU nurse and a pitbull? Lipstick)doesn’t mean she’s coined the joke or invented the joke. It was a great ad lib but nothing original. I just wish everyone would talk about the issues!

    ******Admin********

It’s hard to talk about the issues, when Obama keeps putting both feet in his mouth.

I watch Larry King almost every night. The night he had Chris Rock on I was very disappointed and offended by his question regarding if Obama were elected would he change the menu? Would he have asked a white comedian if John McCain would change the menu? I doubt it. Sometimes Larry speaks before he thinks and then after asking very insensitive questions, he realizes how stupid it was to ask it in the first place. I thought that was very deameaning and now I am not such a regular fan.

That might just be the most rascist, uninformed comment I’ve ever read. Salt, you should be deeply ashamed.

    ***HG says***

Just the opposite. You’re statement itself is racist. Everyone who isn’t black has every right to ask those questions. Are you trying to silence my right to free speech?

Affirmative action makes it legal to discriminate against whites. That abuse is no different than the abuses that were legal during the days of slavery.

Do you know of ANY black people that DON’T support Osama???
    Discrimination is dicrimination regardless!!!
I hope AA is gone anyway just like Roe V Wade!!

The only good thing IF he wins–is that I hope the the black culture will finally get off their butts and realize that being president can be done by a black person and quit living off of me — taxpayer!
