For you to assume all “women are emotional …

For you to assume all “women are emotional experts at being emotional wrecks,” seems sexist to me. I give women enough credit to assume they are not emotional wrecks. It’s a scientific fact that women are wired from birth to be in tune with their emotions from birth, and are much better at reading body language than men. Most women are more emotionally mature than men of the same age.

Men have emotions too, but there’s a stigma applied when a man wears his emotions on his sleeve. When a man then experiences an intense emotional experience he may be completely unprepared to react appropriately, especially if he is facing a violent women swinging at him.

  • I’m going to take the last word here. My point is that violence against women AND men is not okay, but it does happen.

When emotions overwhelm a woman she strikes the man, and she CAN kill him and injury him critically, that’s a fact, but most cultures excuse the woman claiming she is weaker, when that is not always true, and with the right weapon a woman can and has killed a much bigger man. A woman is always immersed in emotions, so it would seem that she is making a conscious decision to start a fight as Rihanna did.

A man starts out with very little emotion and logical thinking. A woman starts attacking him, and he can become overwhelmed by his emotions, and suddenly his primitive brain, and fight or flight response takes over to defend him. At this point the man is being controlled by emotions he doesn’t know how to deal with, and he is just reacting without thinking. Most men are shocked at what they’ve done after they regain control of themselves. Men have reported they didn’t realize what they were doing. It’s not about making a choice to hit a girl in cases like Rihanna and Chris Brown, it’s about emotions taking over, and logical thinking temporarily suspended.

We can judge these two all we want, and say we would never do the same thing, but we might if we in similar circumstances. To apply the law equally in this case, either both should have no charges, both should be charged, or Rihanna should be the only one charged, and Brown not charged since he was the victim who defended himself. Rihanna admits she was the aggressor, which makes her the perpetrator in the eyes of the law.

Ideally, no one should hit anyone else. We should all act civilized, but that’s only possible if we can maintain control of our emotions at all times, which is not always possible.

I would hope you will give a man the same consideration you give a woman in cases like this. Since courts take a sexist “all men are bad” approach, the woman is always the victim, so men don’t get a fair hearing, as I believe is the case here with Chris Brown.

  • It’s easy to say you would have walked away if you weren’t actually there. When you’ve got a woman punching and attacking you, the mind doesn’t know it’s a girl, it bypasses the rational mind and goes into a fight or flight adrenaline driven response. It’s not a logical choice to hit back. If the brain thinks you can defend yourself it starts punching back.

Guys are stronger so they can do more damage. Girls should consider this before triggering the primitive fight or flight response in a man’s brain, of which he has no conscious control.

  • Brown’s emotional state of mind was not something he understood in a rational way, so his emotions took over, and he lost control of his ability to restrain himself. Unlike women who are emotional experts, Brown became a puppet of his sudden explosive emotions. If Brown were a police officer, or military soldier, who is trained in combat, and highly emotional situations, I would not speculate that he lost control of his emotions. Brown is only 19 years-old, and has little, if any, experience in this type of situation.

Rihanna hit Brown first. She’s a woman who understands her emotions. What’s her excuse? Why hasn’t she been charged with a crime?

Brown has the right to defend himself, just as a woman does. Equal rights. End sexism against men.

P.S. Fear isn’t the only emotion that causes people to react, and defend themselves. Getting punched by a girl can do it too.

  • So you excuse Rihanna, but blame Brown for defending himself. Such a sexist statement. Brown isn’t a trained police officer who knows when his force is excessive. His emotions got the best of him when he defended himself. Either both should be charged, or all charges should be dropped.

    *sigh*

We obviously have different ideology. Not in a millions years would I ever consider to hit a girl, but apparently, under the right circumstances, you think it’s just to do so.

Having raised in a violent home, i’ve seen my sister get beaten to the point of near unconsciousness. It’s a monsterous act. I know without a doubt, that i wouldn’t react the way he did, and i’m confident that I don’t stand alone with that statement. We’re physically stronger than women, so if a girl is throwing senseless punches at you, we’re strong enough to hold her down and wait untill she calms down. or simply walk away. women tend to be overwhelmed with emotions and it doesn’t make me a sexist to think so. “emotional wrecks” to me means that you have an overabundance of emotion circulating through you simultaneously.

Violence against women is unacceptable in any form no matter what the circumstances are. It’s not about how we’re “Wired”; it’s an individual decision. a moral judgement. We go through life making decisions after decisions and taking responsibility for them.

With that said, for the sake of endind this thread, I’m gonna agree to disagree.

    P.S.

You say Rihanna is a woman who understands her emotion. thats speculation. She’s very young. two years apart from Chris Brown….I think. and it seems to me that you have an assumption that all women are the same. Regarless of age.

women are emotional experts at being emotional wrecks. They are full of emotions. thats Rihanna ’s excuse.

If you can’t control your emotions, walk away. thats what a real man do. yes, Rihanna may have started the fight, but it is so sickening that people are trying to justify his actions.

Yes Rihanna is a fault too, and maybe Rihanna would have been on the same side of the fence that he is in now, but unfortunately, it was him that BEAT the crap out of her. what a nice world it would be if every guy can beat the living hell out of a girl whenever she throws a punch.

    Honestly, really?

This isn’t about equality or sexism. It’s about restraint. Slamming someone’s face on to a dashboard of a car is hardly self-defense.

You’re telling me that Chris Brown felt so fearfull of his life that he had to put that girl in a headlock as he punches her repeatedly??

    Jesus, come on!

yes, our courts are sexist. but there’s a point when it’s called self defence, and another point when it’s called “beating the $h1t outta someone”.
