to blackiewackie: can you sing? it seems to me that you are an idiot. and what do you call those contestants in American Idol? originals? you’re another one of those racial scumbags who think that they are better than the rest of the world. just because someone sings as good or better as the original, then you say that they are copycats? I believe if they don’t sing or sound as good as the original, I certainly can say that it would be ok for you, right? do you know anything about the capacity or vocal range of the Asian singers? oh please, tell me if you got any idea about them and how were they influenced by your music. go attend some university studies regarding Philippine culture and how’d they came to be. If you bash their singers, then fuck the U.S. since your f**kin country is the one responsible for colonizing and influencing them. copycats now? try to read !

  • thanks for the clarification jamjam.

definitely that this is not about which race is better, but which singer sang or sounded better with a particular song. so sad that some people make this into a racial thing like Pinoys are great, Blacks are better, blah blah blah. I’m both ashamed to those kind of people who have racial superiority complex whether black, brown or white. that is what’s sad about this world. some people just don’t appreciate the beauty of these singers.

  • jamjam122,

I don’t completely agree with your statement. though they may sound a bit of Whitney, Charice’s vocal skill and talent is just exceptional among those what you call 77 other talents. I’ve heard of other Filipino female artists, they are great singers.they sounded lovely on songs sang by Charice. but you can tell the difference in their singing capacity. surely no one would equal the other and surely one would be better than the other. I do give credit to those other singers for their talent, but that doesn’t mean that they are equal to Charice’s. I’m not saying that Charice is the greatest singer, but rather say that her talent is just above those of her age and even of those much older and professional and well-known singers. and that makes her an exemption.

  • to Juliet,
I do agree with you that she needs to learn a few more singing techniques. but I don’t think she needs to possess or train to be a black singer. she has a unique voice eventhough she sounds like a bit of whitney and of christina aguilera. actually in one of her videos that I saw where she sang Beyonce’s “Listen”, she didn’t sound much like Beyonce but her rendition was better than Beyonce, no offense. it is because the song was sang in a more higher note and tempo. the song became more appealing to hear than the original. the greatest achievement that a singer can give to a song is not only to give justice to it, but to make it better. Dolly Parton’s I will always love you was a great song, but Whitney made it much better and famous in her rendition. those kind of singers are rare find.
  • To Hawaii resident, and how is Filipino style is to you? if you have the intelligence or the wisdom to even understand or know about Filipino culture, then you have the right to bash ‘em. but since it is evident that you don’t have a single f**kin clue, then lemme teach you some history lessons. the Philippines was influenced by American culture when they colonized the Philippines in the late 19th century and spread your american influence for more than 50 years. replacing our then dominant spanish culture and replaced spanish language with english. and because of your “OWN” american government’s dedication to spread your influence to it’s colonies, we embraced and loved your culture. thus, as a result, you have seen these so-called good “MIMICS” that you call, thanks to your own people. I believe if we were still under the U.S., you wouldn’t dare to say such sh**ty remarks. it just tells your character as a racial A-Hole. and lemme ask you this for an argument, do you call the contestants that sing on American Idol contests as mimics also? because I didn’t hear nobody sang an original piece, except for those people who were rejected by Simon during the auditions. So before you come down bashing these good asian singers, be sure to know their history background. you come down on lecturing them on how they should sing while you don’t have a clue on how they really sing. Shame on you!

Ok I’d just like to add one more thing. I think what the author of this piece should have said is that fillipina’s can sing just as well as anyone else and that would have been fine. They desreve to be proud of Charice. Black people and white people have had stars on the worldwide stage for years and it is about time that asian singers get the same recognition too.

  2. MYA says:

Also I would just like to add than I am biracial and whilst I was annoyed by the comments this has in no-way turned me against Charice. I think there probably are great fillipina singers out there but we probably never get to hear them, it was only by chance I stumbled across charice.
And for those that said she is a cheap imitator you are very wrong give the girl some credit it is due. She is only 14 but she still blew me away not for her age just becuase of her voice it is amazing and she is only gonna get better.

  3. MYA says:

Come on why do you have to say filipinas sing better than black girls. I havent heard many fillipinas to compare but all I know is that Charice is amazing, She is the future. In time I think she will take over the mantle from the greats like Mariah and Whitney if she gets the right people behind her. And for the record she blew Jennifer Hudson away.

  4. khups says:

why don’t we just appreciate Charice and leave the bashing behind. I agree that Charice has better version but i think that the racial comparison as a whole is totally inappropriate. Yes, we Filipinos are very talented and i’m very proud of it. but please let us not take the fact that Blacks also has great influences on our singers. yes, we imitate everyone. not just blacks but also whoever we think is great without looking at the race, sex, or age. its just that we Filipinos have so much competitive spirit that we tend to be better.

Asians, white, blacks, regarding of what race you are, what is important is that we all appreciate a good talent and that is what Charice is.

I just noticed that no matter what good comment you put in here and try to make peace, aLim has a very nasty comments and very unprofessional. I think aLim is an immature retarded person who doesn’t know what is right and wrong. I think if Charice finds out that this site became full of hate because of a certain aLim, she will definitely hate aLim for life. Dude, you are not standing for all filipinos and I hate for you to stand for me because you are an embarrassment to all of us and to all races. You are the scam of the earth. Go Power Charice, aLim die die die die…

  6. aLim says:

why can’t a filipino like tom appreciate his own people’s talents instead of pretending to like it but idolizes more black talents. shame on you. this is why they intimidate your kind because you can’t stand up for your own race. if you kiss butt just to be liked by the people you idolize, then enjoy and don’t call yourself a filipino because you are a disgrace to them. i just like to see tom stand up for his people when intimidated just like the black people who are out in full force defending their idols from being bashed by filipinos. got my point? otherwise just keep your garbage opinion to your f**king self and STFU.

  7. Yee 408 says:

man why does everyone gotta hate. why cant a singer just be a singer. enough with the race issue already. its hella retarded. geez grow up everyone.

  8. Tom says:

By the way, I’m Filipino Canadian and proud to be a filipino. I was happy when somebody showed me on youtube Charice Pempengco’s performance and I was very proud that a 15 filipina girl was able to impressed the world. What I’m not impressed is the comment of the person who owns this site about filipino’s better singer than blacks. Please don’t get it over your head. You are jeopardizing Charice’s fame because instead of black people liking Charice, they are going to hate her because of your stupid remark. I know where you are coming from where filipino talents are not getting much attention. Well, Charice got attention from Ellen so that is a start. I think what you should do is apologize here about your comment and please remain humble. A humble person always recognizes his or her mistake. To all people who were offended with this person’s remark, please I apologize as a filipino and I guess this person just got too excited and wasn’t thinking right. Peace to all filipinos and black people. Happy New Year

I am a black girl and i think

Charice has a very beautiful voice. Another little girl song the same song on the show America’s got talent and one a million dollars and she was white. They both sang it beautifully. The black people that left commemts saying that we are superior in music are just ignorant people and the Fillapins who say that they sing better are also ignorant. The comment that Charice sings better than Jenifer Hudson is not true at all. Charice’s voice is nothing but an immulation or a copy of Jenifer Holiday. i AM NOT SAYING THAT TO TAKE ANYTHING AWAY FROM HER SINGING BUT THAT IS THE TRUTH. She was very appreciative to be able to sing here in America on the Ellen Show and she is also very much loved here as well as there. I hope the comments dnt continue to put other races down or put down Charice or Jenifer Hudson.

my ultimate dream is for the filipino artists to get the recognition they rightfully deserve.HUNDREDS OF THOUSAND of young filipinos her age(EVEN YOUNGER) have the same caliber as charice,NO KIDDING and who knows, maybe even better, i just regret the fact that they lack opprtunuties.MY DREAM IS FOR THE PHILIPPINES TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED AS COUNTRY OF GREAT TALENT,i hope international studies and surveys have their way on it.i happen to think that all filipinos love to sing, 25% of them are really great singers, the 70% can carry a tune well and 5 percent are frustrated singers(but still loves to sing every moment of their lives)

  11. aLim says:

if you come to this thread to answer the question as to who sang it better, don’t get off topic ’cause your comments will lead to racism and bashing filipinos which i find it very defaming and derrogatory. i will not apologize for what i said here before it was removed that people who bashed charice and her country had already felt GOD’s wrath.

  12. chicharon says:

Are you guys familiar with the Amerincan band Journey? They were big in the 70’s – 90’s. What’s this got to do with Charice? Take a guess..

You’re right! they just got a new vocalist named Arnel Pineda and you’re right again! He’s a Filipino whom Neal Schon, guitarist of Journey found in youtube. Try searching for Arnel Pineda too and you will see how talented Filipinos are. While you’re at it, Try searching for Bamboo, Regine Velasquez, Jaya, Kyla, Wolfgang, MYMP, etc :)

    Hey remember Philosophy (Logic)?

    It’s like this

CP is said to sing better than JH
    CP is Filipina
    JH is Black American
Therefore, Filipinas sing better than Blacks.

Which is of course… false and can never be proven right. But as i see it this is the very thing that is happening in this comment box LOL.

  14. Yeonseong says:

Hmmm… why must we argue who’s better,

anyway i am half-filipin & half-khoooriyan, at first when i heard ’bout the name Charice i didn’t care but when i heard her sing in Star King, there is no doubt her voice is SO GOOD. i’ve never heard any girl of that age sing with such good vocal curves and power.

But the “Filipinas singing better than Blacks” thing, is ONLY an opinion of the one who wrote this article, everyone of us has his/her own stands about things so let us not sh*t things out by reacting too much to what was written. Let’s just put it this way: Some Black people sing better than Filipinas, some Filipinas sing better than blacks, some Khoooriyan sing better and this or than, and so on… but to say that a Race is superior than others… it’s total bullsh*t. For those who are saying those things, don’t be too proud. You get the idea?

WORLD PEACE. We only have one planet to live in. Arasseo? ^^

  15. aLim says:

hey blackiewaste, you are a filipino degrading your own people and don’t call yourself blackiewackie coz you are not. you are from the philippines working like hell to survive and to be able to pay your internet bills. SHAME ON YOU AND YOUR BLACK IDOLS WHO ARE POOR PIECES OF SH*TS.

  16. aLim says:

hey blackiewacko, people are aware that your kind of people are the ones who run into problems with the law so are you worth copying? HELL NO’. STFU.
besides, your black idols started from SH#T before they became popular and nor you were born rich. WHAT A SHAME.

  17. Bella says:

to Hawaii Resident: I haven’t heard anything good from Hawaiians about Filipinos. They always say stereotype, subjective conclusions against Filipinos. I don’t understand that. What is it about you? All Hawaiians I’ve talked to are like you. Do you have insecurity or something?
