Please please take note of Billy Crawford and Vina Morales, they’re one of the cream of the crops.

while Vina Morales won the first ASEAN contest between Asian nations (IKON BATTLE)even if her song used wasn’t that good compared to her previous ones:
see her dance and perform live she will put Beyonce to shame. I can’t find one where she sang and performed Beyonce’s song and was better at it,

  1. Filipino copies everything – thats why your history is soo messed up – Charice Pempengco who ? – yeah she may be the next karaoke superstar here in US singing at Filipino bars – LOL – Stop comparing your singers to blacks. Its ridiculous -

  2. jamjam122 says:

Wow., Its just now that I’ve actually seen her performance at U. I first saw her perform at the Ellen DeGeneres but her performance here was a bit more fun. Maybe its because I enjoy it how she wows the audience that they laugh, smile, and be amazed simultaneously. Pagod na ako magEnglish., haha., ang saya naman., hmm., :-P

  3. jamjam122 says:

quoted from fred: “definitely that this is not about which race is better, but which singer sang or sounded better with a particular song.”

That sums it up! Thanks fred!

    btw, are you Filipino? :-P

  4. talent has got anything to do with skin color. period!!!!!!
there is no point in raising the skin color issue.
we are comparing talent, not races.
i am a Filipino but I don’t agree that all Filipinos are talented in singing! the heck, i should have a record contract already, what with being in the music industry for more than 15 years!!!!!
not all blacks can sing either. not all whites are dumb(like George Bush), not all Chinese can do Shaolin moves, not all Japanese can do JUDO!

Charice is talented. But she is not the embodiment of the whole Filipino race. She is. She is, she is. Not we are.
I love her, you must watch her youtube videos.

And for all of you, come on, lets be civil and respectful. No SKIN color issues.

    I love you all…..

    thanks for the clarification jamjam.

definitely that this is not about which race is better, but which singer sang or sounded better with a particular song. so sad that some people make this into a racial thing like Pinoys are great, Blacks are better, blah blah blah. I’m both ashamed to those kind of people who have racial superiority complex whether black, brown or white. that is what’s sad about this world. some people just don’t appreciate the beauty of these singers.

Truly amazing little girl. I was blowned away!

  7. jamjam122 says:

Oh wait, it’s just a gossip, or one’s opinion. or maybe both, so this article is safe. Haha., :-P

  8. jamjam122 says:

    (not to fred, :-P )

No race or ethnicity is better than another. When you put Charice as better than Jennifer, and Charice is Filipina and Jennifer is Black, you are like concluding that Filipinas are better than Blacks, which can never be proven true. Charice may be better at Jennifer in some points; however, it should not be generalized as all Filipinos sing like Charice. Do not take it collectively as all Filipinas are better than Blacks. Thus, this article may be put as biased, or committing the fallacy Post hoc ergo propter hoc (After this, therefore because of this).

AND THE WINNER IS, CHARICE PEMPENGCO. CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP. FILIPINOS ROCK.
DON’T DARE aLim or you will regret saying all your embarrassing comments about filipino singers.
GO AHEAD, MAKE MY DAY AND SEE WHAT I MEANT BY THIS.

  10. jamjam122 says:

    And fred,
I didn’t write the 77 thing. It’s like the number of the comment.

  11. jamjam122 says:

I’m just saying that there are many kids like Charice who are unrecognized. :-)

  12. aLim says:

hey focking embarrassed, PLEASE STOP CALLING YOURSELF PINOY AND ALSO change your color to black it fits you well. you are one focking piece of sh#it A-HOLE who put your people down. what a stinky puke you are. YOU WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR BEING RACIST OF YOUR OWN KIND WHEN YOU HEAR A GOOD NEWS ABOUT PHILIPPINES SOON AND YOU WILL BE SURELY EMBARRASSED FOR SHARING YOUR RACIAL COMMENTS ON THIS THREAD ABOUT YOUR PEOPLE.
ME TOO, I WANT TO PUKE READING YOUR OPINION THAT SHOWS WHICH SIDE ARE YOU ON. SHAME ON YOU.

  13. fred says:

    jamjam122,

I don’t completely agree with your statement. though they may sound a bit of Whitney, Charice’s vocal skill and talent is just exceptional among those what you call 77 other talents. I’ve heard of other Filipino female artists, they are great singers.they sounded lovely on songs sang by Charice. but you can tell the difference in their singing capacity. surely no one would equal the other and surely one would be better than the other. I do give credit to those other singers for their talent, but that doesn’t mean that they are equal to Charice’s. I’m not saying that Charice is the greatest singer, but rather say that her talent is just above those of her age and even of those much older and professional and well-known singers. and that makes her an exemption.

  14. jamjam122 says:

There are so many singers like Charice in the Philippines (Those little Whitney Houston-like singers and them). America does not have those kind of kids since American kids sing more of rock, rnb, and pop songs. I think its just about time that they witness one of Charice’s kind.

  15. fred says:

    to Juliet,
I do agree with you that she needs to learn a few more singing techniques. but I don’t think she needs to possess or train to be a black singer. she has a unique voice eventhough she sounds like a bit of whitney and of christina aguilera. actually in one of her videos that I saw where she sang Beyonce’s “Listen”, she didn’t sound much like Beyonce but her rendition was better than Beyonce, no offense. it is because the song was sang in a more higher note and tempo. the song became more appealing to hear than the original. the greatest achievement that a singer can give to a song is not only to give justice to it, but to make it better. Dolly Parton’s I will always love you was a great song, but Whitney made it much better and famous in her rendition. those kind of singers are rare find.

  16. rikimaru says:

the best music comes from the heart styles just follows.Theres a fine line of difference when you focus on style in music rather on singing it with your heart its like BLUES its easy to play style but hard to feel.

  17. aLim says:

hey blackiewacko, you’re nuts comparing your idol beyonce with charice. your idol has an ugly shaky voice and she needs to camouflage it by showing off her butt and breasts, what a shame.
tell you what, your idols and your kind do not have what the filipino singers and people have and that is “voice quality and decent style” so cut off your fantasies about your idols. goodbye.

  18. aLim says:

we are talking about a beautiful voice here which charice has plus a very decent style that can influence the youths of today’s generation. white or black singers can sing but if we talk about voice quality, i prefer to listen to a beautiful voice and not to watch a singer who shows off a butt and breasts inorder to become famous. will FILIGUY be happy to hear a news that a filipino singer is signed into an international label? if not, don’t pretend to appreciate filipino talents just STFU.

  19. Filiguy says:

Charice you did a wonderful job. Especially when you sang I will always love you, started a capella and without hesitation modulated with the accompaniment. It was so impressive. I wish people would just appreciate that you really sang well and you’ve got a great talent and stop putting other races down. I hope that whoever started this blog would be more sensitive next time he/she puts anything into writing. And please stop claiming you have ears for music, because if you do, you would appreciate listening to all genres. It’s just not the vocals, it’s everything — the style, rhythm, beat and much more. Maybe you appreciate Charice’s so much but your taste is not the same as other music enthusiasts out there. I have travelled the world watching different peoples perform — in Africa, Eastern Europe, the Americas, Asia and others and I really would say that they are all equally great. Charice I wish you all the best in your singing career. Merry Christmas to everyone!

  20. JULIET says:

NO DOUBT THIS GIRL CAN REALLY SING!!!! SHE IS AMAZING BUT I MUST SAY THAT SHE HAS A LONG WAY TO LEARN MORE TECHNIQUES IN SINGING COMPARE TO OTHER BLACK SINGERS..
FILIPINO SINGERS ARE GOOD SINGERS BUT BLACK SINGERS ARE THE GREATEST! THEY STARTED ALL GENRE IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY, THEY HAVE THE STYLE…
I HOPE THIS GIRL WOULD GO SOMEWHERE AND WOULD REACH HER DREAMS TO BECOME FAMOUS CAUSE SHE DESERVES IT..

  21. fred says:

to blackiewackie: can you sing? it seems to me that you are an idiot. and what do you call those contestants in American Idol? originals? you’re another one of those racial scumbags who think that they are better than the rest of the world. just because someone sings as good or better as the original, then you say that they are copycats? I believe if they don’t sing or sound as good as the original, I certainly can say that it would be ok for you, right? do you know anything about the capacity or vocal range of the Asian singers? oh please, tell me if you got any idea about them and how were they influenced by your music. go attend some university studies regarding Philippine culture and how’d they came to be. If you bash their singers, then fuck the U.S. since your f**kin country is the one responsible for colonizing and influencing them. copycats now? try to read !

  22. fred says:

To Hawaii resident, and how is Filipino style is to you? if you have the intelligence or the wisdom to even understand or know about Filipino culture, then you have the right to bash ‘em. but since it is evident that you don’t have a single f**kin clue, then lemme teach you some history lessons. the Philippines was influenced by American culture when they colonized the Philippines in the late 19th century and spread your american influence for more than 50 years. replacing our then dominant spanish culture and replaced spanish language with english. and because of your “OWN” american government’s dedication to spread your influence to it’s colonies, we embraced and loved your culture. thus, as a result, you have seen these so-called good “MIMICS” that you call, thanks to your own people. I believe if we were still under the U.S., you wouldn’t dare to say such sh**ty remarks. it just tells your character as a racial A-Hole. and lemme ask you this for an argument, do you call the contestants that sing on American Idol contests as mimics also? because I didn’t hear nobody sang an original piece, except for those people who were rejected by Simon during the auditions. So before you come down bashing these good asian singers, be sure to know their history background. you come down on lecturing them on how they should sing while you don’t have a clue on how they really sing. Shame on you!

  23. Bri says:

The pinay and pinoy coming here bashing the author of this article should be ashamed. You’re all hypocrites. You say don’t judge, then you judge. Then some of you even assume the author is a pinoy. Have you seen him/her? I didn’t think so. Making false assumptions is worse than saying something you may not agree with. Everyone has a right to their own opinion. Who are all of you to try to make someone feel bad for expressing themselves. Do you want to live in a colorless world, with no opinions to agree with or oppose? Before you say such harsh words to someone you don’t even know, go look in the mirror and make sure you’re not really saying what you think about yourself.

  24. embarrassed says:

while charice is working hard to make us look good, you are easily trying to make us look bad. This blog is bias, moronic and it makes me embarrassed of being a filipino. If you think you are helping charice.. you are absolutely not! If there is anything you are doing, is making other race even our own race hate ourselves! By the way, if you thought we were better than black people, you probably thought Pattie Labelle, Aretha Frankin, Beyonce to name a few were Filipino. GIve me a F**kin break! It makes me proud to be a filipino because of charice, yet after reading your blog, you make me wanna puke for being one!

Now let me go take my chill pill “)

  25. allan says:

I’m proud of Charice but I’m ashamed of this guy doing bad comments of others. I’m pinoy too but this guy keeps our reputation down. What a shame.

  26. RobertGF615 says:

As a Filipino American, I am not in the habit of comparing one race to another. God has given each and everyone of us the talent to share with our fellow human being. So, let’s ceased from being arrogant and downright insensitive. Let us all get along and enjoy the soul of the language–the music that we ALL will enjoy!

  27. Better than blacks ? Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, Beyonce Knowles, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Whitney Houston. etc, etc – what do you fellas have ? You guys are bunch of wannabees who copies anything.

  28. Dontcompare says:

I’m filipino and I agree with most that Charice has an enormous voice for a young girl her age. She can definitely sing. I hope she develops her own voice and style and not merely mimic well-known singers.

  29. enkantadia says:

    Amen Jerome! Nicely said. Salamat.

  30. jerome says:

I know that all Filipinos out here like me are so proud of Charice but please refrain from leaving comments that are over-patronizing our race. Just support our kid and pray for her success. Remember, we are dubbed as over-reacting people already not once, not twice, but oh so many times.. We must support our talent in such a way that we don’t look as if we are drooling so much for fame. Keep it cool. Darating din tayo diyan mga kababayan. Huwag masyado magyabang. Ayos ba? Hindi masama ang mag appreciate, ang masama ay ang sobrang kayabangan. Sana maintindihan natin lahat to.

To ELLEN, I am one with my fellow Filipinos in thanking you for featuring such a wonderful talent. I just hope that she would make it big also outside the Philippines and amaze more people. GOD WITH US!
