Charice Pempengco Sings Better than Dreamgirls

Share

A 15-year-old Filipina named Charice Pempengco has proven me right once again. Filipinas sing better than black girls in my opinion. Charice performed a Dreamgirls song And I Am Telling You, which won Jennifer Hudson an Oscar, only Charice did it better. I’m certain Pedophiles who roam the Internet will agree, if not just for the fact this is a 14 year-old girl in a skirt. The most touching part is that Charice changed the words – from “You’re the best man I’ve ever known” to “You’re the best MOM I’ve ever known.” Mom must be so proud of her little Diva.

See the after performance interview with Charice, and more singing by clicking the link below. She’s amazing.

Another example of the voice of an Angel is 100% Filipina Lea Salonga. In the video below Lea auditions for Miss Saigon. You might also remember her in Aladdin (1992) singing the voice of Princess Jasmine. It’s true blacks are good singers, but for my musically trained ear, Filipinas have one of the most beautiful voices on the planet. Blacks commenting here should listen to music from around the world before commenting. There are many great voices besides black voices. Take some time to appreciate other cultures outside of your own. I’m not trying to say blacks don’t have good voices, but I am saying Charice has a better voice than Jennifer Hudson. For me it’s the voice as well as the approach to the song. Black girls sing from their soul, but Filipinas sing from their heart. That’s how I see it. Nothing against the talented black girls out there.

Lea’s wedding is below to her husband Robert Chien.

i’m a filipina, and i’m proud of this young girl cuz she’s representing us flipz. yet unfortunately the comment “filipina singers are better than black singers” have given the black people the notion to start getting all uppity and defensive. i don’t think talent has to do w/ any race. i think there are many great artists out there regardless of their race. and to those who have said “do not EVER say your race is superior than the black race” please go F**K yourself because the black race isn’t superior to the filipino race either. and as for the DANCING!!! i’m a filipina dancer. don’t just claim that black girls are better dancers. a good dancer is someone who loves to dance…and can hit the right beats. i admire dancers of all races. correct me if i’m wrong, which i am NOT, but dancing isn’t just shaking your booty around

It is great that Charice is getting the attention that she deserves. She certainly has talent that is a great gift. I am sure however that she herself will not like that remarks putting other people down be used to promote her own talent. My belief is that real talent speaks for itself. It does not need to say it is better than other people.

Also, it is not nice to be using race to make generalities. I am Filipina. I am proud of all the talented Filipino performers. I certainly believe we have some of the best in the world. Let us not try to lift ourselves up by putting other people down. It is unbecoming, nasty and certainly not Filipino.

Blacks like to see the notions of they are the penacle of music,I’m telling anyone who’s out there that music is not black people alone. period.
I say it again it’s not black people alone period
get that to eny ones mind. Charice is not Patty Labelle because Paty Labelle is Patty Labelle, Buuut
can I tell you that Patty Labelle did not envent music alone?

Do not be so judgemental, the kid has talent.period, I say it again period….I mean no period. more no less..
too bad that so concieted black people out there thinks that they owned music in general..
    what a pitty…..
    excuse my french…..

  4. Tina says:

LEA SALONGA, 100% Filipina, and the original Miss Saigon, has won a Laurence Olivier award and a Tony for her performance.

    ’nuff said.

  5. Mina says:

I am a Filipina and think that Charice has a very special talent indeed. However, I don’t agree with the comment that “Filipinas are better singers than black girls”.

I love music and believe that all races (Black, White, Asians, Latinos, etc.) have made significant contributions to this art form. I love Barbra Streisand and Diana Ross as much as I do Lea Salonga and Regine Velasquez.

On behalf of Filipinos, may I apologize for this racial comment. Some of us can get carried away in the face of great talent and get moved to saying inappropriate things. Please take this like you would a Mom’s pride in her daughter’s talent – remember Moms like to think their daughters are better than any other girls.

  6. dfogcity says:

Nothing that all black people do defined art in general, it is true that a lot of them had grammy and oscars, but also charice would never make it on top, because you know why hes asian looks gets in the way, if she look more black she would defnitly
make it. My point not all black singers are admired
all over the world, certainly not in part of the world. singing in genaral is a form of art every culture has its own style, black singer happened to
be there first. But let me ask you a question?
can you sing like Charice? then sit down and shut up.

  7. malot says:

I’m a Filipina, but I really do think that the comment that “Filipino’s sings better than black girls” is just plain and simply ignorance. Neng just keep your pipe shut, you’re just making Filipinos look stupid. I know you’re just proud but Think….

    *** Editor note ***

Malot is a black girl posing as a Pinay. Only black girls will say you are “ignorant.” Pinays would not say it that way. Don’t be a fake. I invite Malot to come back and say the same thing in Tagalog to prove she’s a Pinay. She probably doesn’t even know what Pinay means.

AHAHAH, i love how human beings love to judge and fail to see many of our conclusions are not substantiated. It’s like the james watson incident, and here he is, a world famous scientist who aided in the discovery of DNA, so let’s leave it at that. We all have our own misconceptions of the races and many of us think we’re absolutely right on it. In reality, I think we just lack the necessary details, b/c we assume our own experiences and perceptions are factual and can be generalized to a wider base, which we often claim is the entire world. We’re only human :)

  9. maria says:

ok, so whoever wrote this really wanted to piss some people off.

charice isn’t BETTER than blacks, but she has JUST AS MUCH TALENT as they do, and considering filipino’s and many other talented asians go unrecognized for so long, i’m so happy and proud for charice for coming this far at this age. i love charice i know she’ll make it big somehow, best of luck to her. :]

  10. Pissed off! says:

Anybody and Everybody on here must be crazy if they thought this little girl sings better than Jennifer Hudson! She just has a great voice for a 14 year old. Take that and be happy, for those of you who are soooo impressed. I hear people who sing like that everyday! And as for who’s a better dancer, My opinion is guaranteed to be biased so I’m gonna leave that alone. All I can say is just because some “judge” says this person won this contest in 2006 doesn’t mean Jack! Why, just because that person(s) said so. What makes them so special!? I’m sure they’re are other judges with just as much qualifications as the next that would have a different opinion. Whatever! Every year that person can be replaced by someone better So enjoy the win, for now.

  11. DEMI says:

who has a oscar and a golden globe? What Filipina has that?

  12. DEMI says:

Okay, I could really go off here but I will not. Instead I will do this:

You mean to tell me that you feel that Filipinas can sing better than Nina Simone, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Anita Baker, Whitney Houston, Yolanda Adams, Shirley Ceaser, Jennifer Holiday….I could go on and on….

IF there is a Filipina that can SING sooooo well…WHERE are they? Why aren’t they on top? What are their names?

Black PEOPLE have given soul, style, strength and amazement to cultures around the world. Yet we don’t get the full credit we deserve. How DARE you write such a statement. So if black women didn’t sing…. WHO would that 15 year old little girl or your Filipinas sound like? WHAT would be their style??

Black women singers have served jazzy, soulful, spirit filled songs for the 200 years we have been on American soil. From the fullness of their lips, the sway of their hips, the roundness of their behinds to the figure 8 with their heads when they are upset. EVERYONE has copied them. So do not EVER think your race is superior to the black race.

We are born with the innate gifts you wish you were born with…but were not.

  13. Chanel says:

LMAO! Woww. You sound about as smart as a brick wall. Black women are born with sould hun. Charice MIMICKS it. Point blank, simple. Yes. She has a great voice. Is she a Jeniffer Hudson, or a Whitney? HELLL NO! And never will be. So get over yourself. Thank you.

  14. luanna says:

how ignorant of a comment can you make?? ‘filipinas sing better than black girls’… i’m sure that’s why this filipina girl emulates and idolizes black singers, because they’re LESS talented singers. (that was sarcasm, in case you missed it).

  15. wayne says:

haha! i just lol in the comment.. filipinas
“They definitely don’t dance better than black girls, as she proved in the additional footage”

this is just FYI (Im not saying whos the best)
but 2006 world hip hop champion is from The Philippines? check it in you tube, we got the 5th place… we are represented by Kabamodern, C.A based hip hop crew.

  16. Black guy says:

c’mon … we are talking about who’s singing better not dancing better …gals

  17. paul says:

When I listen to her, I hear mimicry, not understanding of what she’s really singing. Yes, she has a good set of pipes, but Jennifer Hudson’s greater life experience makes her performance more affecting. Let her get some age on her, and she might be able to make it sound truthful.

  18. Hannah says:

Oh please, she sang it better but no one ever said that she could dance much better. Hip-hop is universal and it’s not always the “black” community that does it best. Hip-hop has many different form and styles but their dancing was NOT hip-hop. It was more pop. Learn your dance variety before you start saying something, people these days are so ignorant. There are Asians out there that do dance better, I mean, come on, have you seen every Asian dancer out there, not even Asian but also European, Native American, and etcetera?… Exactly. Also, am I allowed to say that Europeans are better ballet dancers? No, because I do not know every ballet dancer in the world. In addition, people also have a different view on what they see on TV and what they consider is entertaining because that was SO not awkward and painful for me to watch. Personally, the people doing some pop dancing didn’t show their “BEST”. That was only some moves they could do and if maybe you did some research, you’ll know what I am talking about.

  19. joe says:

how can she do it better than black girls, when she is acting like she black, sorry it just didn’t look natural..

  20. okay says:

I can agree that she sounds good, but to say that “Filipinas sound better than black girls”, is a bit much. They definitely don’t dance better than black girls, as she proved in the additional footage. Also, I am not impressed by that stage full of people doing their best “hip-hop” impersonations. They look uncomfortable and it was painful to watch.
