Casey Calvert Died from a Drug Overdose

Casey Calvert, a guitarist in the pop-punk group Hawthorne Heights, died in the District last month from a drug overdose, the D.C. medical examiner’s office ruled yesterday.

Calvert, 25, was found on his band’s tour bus near the 9:30 club in Northwest Washington on Nov. 24 before he was to perform a concert. His death was an accident caused by the combined effects of opiates and the antidepressant citalopram and the anti-anxiety medication clonozepam, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The night before Calvert died, Hawthorne Heights had played a show in Detroit. Calvert was discovered on the tour bus about 2:30 p.m. and pronounced dead at the scene.

Drugs can kill, even at the young age of 25.
